Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?
It would surprise me if there hasn't been some lobbying from the "code share partner".

Re: BRU Winter 2017-18: news, new routes, airlines
Cathay Pacific is currently hinting on its Facebook page they are going to announce flights to BRU!? what is the hint exactly? Cathay Pacific run a contest on their official Facebook page in which you have to guess their 3 new destinations, all related to beer. One is starting with a B and counting...

Re: ASL Airlines Belgium (ex-TNT Airways) news 2017
Is it illegal for Belgian pilots to fly an OO aircraft between two US or two African cities? Yes. If it involves payload (pax/cargo) loaded in US city A, delivered to US city B it is illegal. Cabotage - "8th/9th freedom" - is still illegal in the US You are correct indeed, but the opposit...

Re: ASL Airlines Belgium (ex-TNT Airways) news 2017
Beca is currently the only "association" protecting pilot jobs in Belgium. Beca discusses Fedex aircraft (N-registered) with American pilots on American payscales taking over intra-european flights (illegal) that were previously performed by Belgian pilots on European registered aircraft ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
it's no surprise LH wants some A321 in SN's fleet as the whole LH group (OS LX LH) not EW/GW have A321's which would make it easier to swap when one needs a bigger plane for a short time (popular summer destinations or even CDG) A321LR don't come cheap, using them on CDG for transfer passengers wil...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Wasn't this suggested by luchtzak members already quite some time ago ? A320 family aircraft from BRU to Africa and as well as a NYC late evening flight ? I seem to remember the idea was considered "unworkable", also by SN management, but when Swiss CEO considers it, it gets serious atten...

Re: Ryanair in 2017
It seems to me that with its numerous parallel runways BBI (or BER) has the possibility to accept all the traffic predicted for the years to come. Furthermore, a single airport makes transfers easier. Oh yes, I remember: no transfers on Ryanair... (except in Italy). Numerous??? (Off topic: why do y...

Re: BRU - Long haul & intercontinental in the medium-long term
On the other hand, KL has flown AMS-SFO with an A332 (currently B744), and if I'm correct back in the Sabena-period there was BRU-GRU also with A332? Looking at the technical sheet, an Airbus 330-200 has a range of 13450km full pax/full fuel. LAX and JNB are under 10000km from BRU... ? GRU was oper...

Re: Social dumping at Cityjet operating for Brussels Airlines ?
That is circumventing the law No, that IS the law! (Read EU465 please) Do you think the specific articles about aircrew in many double taxation agreements and EU465, specific for aircrew based in one country and working for a company from another country, would exist, if doing so would be illegal?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017
... Cut... The European law that regulates aviation workers have been in place since 2010 btw, and Ryanair has been conform since however SN hasn't changed it's tune. In the mean time they subcontract to the same practice. Hypocritical to say the least! Ryanair doesn't comply with EUregulation and ...

Re: Trivia 2017 (miscellaneous news)
We are verry happy easyJet is recruiting 1200 new cabin crew, but the 2016 press release looks like the 2017 one ;-) http://wp.me/P5lySl-78L If you read the text, you can see they recruited more than1200 in the last year (5500 to 6900). From this years press release I understand they will recruit a...

Re: "Boost", code name for a new Air France long-haul LCC
Staff will be recruited in a separate way. Strikes to be expected soon on Air France! Agreements with the unions have been signed last week. Pilots will be volunteers from mainline, cabin crew will be new recruits. Pilots accepted the agreement against the advice of their union leaders. (70/30).

Re: Brexit and British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, et al.
In a move similar to easyJet, Ryanair plans to flood 72 of its bases in continental Europe and Ireland with 85 UK-based B737-800s, in the event of a hard Brexit. If there is no clear agreement by September 2018, the carrier plans to remove many flights to and from England in summer 2019. Not the sa...

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2017
Meanwhile, another question: why does this TUI aircraft (E190 OO-TEA) take such a westerly route between Barcelona and Ostend? Capture.PNG I don't know but I can add the fact a Royal Air Maroc (AT 844 CMN - BRU I think) also made an huge detour. It approached BRU from the North Sea like the traffic...

Re: Brussels A330 in Boston!
OO-SFN just took off on Runway 27 heading for JFK... There was a lot of heavy rain in New York earlier so SN501 came in here for a visit!.. this was poor planning by dispatch/ops. The bad weather was forecasted and 1 hour extra fuel was a must at the very least, this little detour will cost them 10...
