Re: CRL to America ?
The only way Ryanair will be able to fly to America will be by pulling over for petrol in Iceland (KEF) or Canada (Gander). Otherwise, they'd need to buy a longer range plane (B787, A330?) and having a small subfleet of any AC type isn't smart for an LCC which benefits from the economies of scale of...

Question is, how is this distributed among the fare classes (ie: Y, C and F)?

Re: Standing behind a plane taking off : how stupid can you
From what I've read on the internet (I've never been to SXM myself) "surfing" the fence at SXM is quite popular there. However the Jetblue pilots are also (partly) at fault. They took off from the displaced threshold instead of the actual runway and spooled up the engines with the brakes o...

Re: What if JAL and KLM/AIR France would merge?
The first problem I'd see is that JAL is Oneworld and AF/KL is Skyteam.
The second one is that they are so far apart geograpically the only way I could see it work is if JAL set up a scissor hub at CDG/AMS or AF/KL at HND (a bit like 9W did at BRU)

Re: G-ECOH New DHC8 for Brussels Airlines (opd flybe)
the SN livery looks quite nice on the Dash-8 Q400 actually.
Will these planes be operated with FlyBe pilots and cabin crew, or just FlyBe pilots and SN cabin crew?

The stealthy grey quite suits the 757 actually.

Re: Belgian Government: 1 A330 will replace the A310's
Does the A330 actually frequently fly missions that require the lifting power of an A330, or is it mostly used for stuff an A32X ACJ or 737 BBJ can do just as well?

I'd say an engine oil quantity indicator. Don't quote me on that though.

Re: Sea King above Ghent
I doubt they would use a Seaking for that, a normal police chopper seems more likely for such things.
That said, I have not seen (or heard) it flying over Gent.

I'm taking a wild guess here, but I think it's because OO-SFY is SN's first A332.

Re: Who Am I ?
Thanks for the explanation Desert Rat. I am roughly aware what FADEC does, but I actually had no idea how things worked in the pre-FADEC times (if I recall correctly, Concorde had a rudimentary form of FADEC as well on the RR Olympus engines).

At the risk of going offtopic here: What does engine trim do? Is it something similar to stabiliser, rudder and aileron trim?

Re: Big thumbs up to Jetairfly
Honestly, purely on short haul (I have not done any flights that qualify being called long haul), I have yet to have a bad experience with JAF. I have also had a flight on OO-TUC, which I found quite good actually. The plane felt a lot less cramped than the 737s they normally use for short haul flig...

I remember it in the sense that they appeared to spend more time on the ground than on the air. Not quite sure what the deal with the engine type was though.

Re: President Kabila's senior adviser dies in plane crash
the picture shown in the news report you posted looks like a Boeing nose indeed (could be 707, 727 or 737), but that does not look like runway overshoot damage like they say in the report. edit: it appears the above clip used the wrong photo, that one was a 727 which crashed while trying to land in ...

Re: President Kabila's senior adviser dies in plane crash
Deredactie.be and De Morgen also mention a/c type as a Boeing 727, however the plane in the footage looks like a Gulfstream jet. Googling the reg (N2SA) results in a/c type being noted as Gulfstream IV edit: this photo (source: skynews.com.au) shows quite clearly it wasn't a 727 and also shows the t...

Gear assemblies are not exactly my speciality, but a 757 perhaps?
PS: if I get it right, the same thing as in my post above the picture still applies. I find this game too, much fun to quit :p
