Very much so. Let's not forget b-west and his Facebook group are complicit as well, with his senseless demands thriving on the fears after the attacks.sn26567 wrote:My comment: this shows again that the actions by the airport police unions were excessive and irresponsible.

Re: Some good news for BRU: direct flights to Brasil soon?
BA and IB are both situated at huge and congested airports where it it probably is difficult or impossible to get te slots at the times that they would prefer them. BA indeed, IB not so much. MAD is one of the least congested large airports in Europe. In 2007 they had 493.000 aircraft movements, la...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
With such very long waiting times they won't need more than 40% capacity. AMS and CDG have many more destinations and are only 1.5 hours away from BRU. This simply means that those are quicker overall from BRU and even more so from other places in Belgium.

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
The real issue is the delay, not the checks. We should force them to be (very) organised and efficient, thats all. But i'm happy they finally care about safety. Guess what? Checks and delays are related. At every airport in the world where there are checks, there are delays at times. To think BRU w...

I think there's something fishy about the police unions themselves. They are probably out to ruin BRU so they can use the 'brugpensioen' asap.

Agreed on UA. Only not sure about ORD remaining. Here's a detailed overview of the bookings of BRU after the attacks. There have been more cancellations than bookings since: http://forwardkeys.com/revenue-manageme ... bings.html

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
ATL might (will?) return march 2017, according to Airliners.net Might this allow UA to further expand their already dominant position on BRU? I know ATL is DL's main hub, but those pax needing a flight to BRU have to take a flight, no...? Sadly I think nobody will expand the coming months, there ar...

I happen to know the administrator of that page very well. He's definitely not union related nor does he work at the airport. He just has quite some friends and family working there and has serious cares and fears about their well-being. He doesn't have to care about their well being if he gets his...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
I agree, Jetter, but does European legislation regarding state aid allow such exceptions? We can only hope LH goes ahaid and buys the remaining shares. Yes. The previous state aid was a lost cause from the start, so they should change the argument for said aid ASAP, with the new rationale being the...

This is pretty typical of such screening afaik. As you can see, only moving the target. Entrance to the area is at left side.

Re: Brussels airlines future and financial perspective
I also believe they should receive help in these difficult times to avoid going bankrupt, but only by doing something that is applicable to all airlines. I agree they should receive help, but not from the slot coordinator that needs to be impartial. They need help from the Belgian government. Norma...

It's like this indeed with all (10+) Asian airports that I've seen with such screening.RoMax wrote:I'm not familiar with other airports where they have such screening, but I suppose in most cases it is not actually outside the terminal but in the front zone or at least directly adjacent to it?

Re: Re-opening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
In all fairness... I am not sure these rules apply here. They do. It doesn't state that the schedules facilitator has to act independent, neutral, non-discriminatory and transparent just when distributing slots. It states that is has to act that way, thus meaning in general and not limited to a spe...

Re: Re-opening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
It is indeed more than a week ago those tragic events happened, from those 8 days 4 of those were used by forensics to collect evidence. Was the space now used for the temporary check-in used by forensics? BRU shouldn't think what can't be done, but what CAN be done. And lets not forget all the red...

Re: Re-opening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
I am under a strong impression some police unions are abusing the closure of the airport to enforce their own personal agenda. Shame on them: taking a whole industry and our country's economy hostage just like that, if indeed this would be true! Shame on them indeed. They'd better pay attention to ...
