Re: Alitalia again near bankruptcy

This announcement was delayed until after the EU elections. It comes on the day when Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, riding high on a 40% vote, announced his 'Sbloccare Italia', Unblock Italy, campaign to reduce bureaucracy and intransigent labour laws. The approx. 2800 redundancies required by Etihad ...

Re: Alitalia again near bankruptcy

According to James Hogan, CEO of EY, there is a 50% chance of them investing in AZ and not until April. http://english.alarabiya.net/en/business/aviation-and-transport/2014/03/03/Etihad-Airways-chief-gives-50-50-chance-for-Alitalia-deal.html AZ is still losing money so the longer EY waits the cheape...

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet

There are a lot of E-jets becoming available now from Flybe and AA. They are about the same size as Avro RJs and could be considered as their replacement.
Not too far off topic.

Re: Alitalia again near bankruptcy

It seems that Etihad's plan for AZ includes leaving MXP completely, greatly reducing flights between LIN and FCO and using the slots for new European and North African flights. Maybe expanding LIN in the longer term. It looks like a sensible plan. Nevertheless local government officials are not happ...

The statement said:
"Any issues that may prevent the establishment of an appropriate business plan will have to be resolved to ensure the plan can be implemented to move Alitalia to sustainable profitability"

Good luck to all concerned.

Great work Established 2 Thank you I never imagined that FR could fly between major airports for near their usual prices and I was too lazy to check. I'm glad to be proved wrong. They are going to have a great future. http://www.theguardian.com/business/shortcuts/2013/nov/08/michael-o-leary-33-dafte...

Re: Alitalia again near bankruptcy

Etihad have offered to buy 49% of AZ, but are expected to get about 35%, they have plans to create a hub at FCO.
Poste Italia are not happy because they don't want any one share holder to have more than 10%.

Re: Airbus would like to increase the capacity of the A321

An easy upgrade similar to Easyjet's 156-seat A319s. Another good idea from Airbus.
It would still be an A321 because the airframe is the same, just the seating has changed.
