Re: Air Belgium in 2018

With all the commotion about the colors of the flag, I wonder how much the Smurfs aircraft is going to be appreciated on this board... :D (probably not much since SN is now part of Eurowings, but that’s a different story)

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Seems like the registrations for the new A333s are out.... OO-SFB-SFH https://sites.google.com/site/lhgroupfleet/brussels Cheers! It seems to be an outdated version of the refleet, SN won't take 978 and 983 any longer. I don't know exactly which aircraft Brussels Airlines will take instead, but I b...

The Q3 YTD figure is +30mio, full year result is +15mio, hence the loss for Q4.

How is a loss in Q4 directly related to the Thomas Cook deal? SN lost 30 mio in Q1. I think it is more an issue of winter vs summer season/demand.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Quite a disappointing result imo. It also means they lost €15mio in Q4. I think Carsten Spohr is right when he says that this result cannot be attributed to the attacks of 2016 any longer. However, a profit, no matter how small, is always better than a loss! :) I think all airlines are changing towa...

We all hope so. However, let's never underestimate the politics in Belgium. Never... Air Belgium is flagged as a "Walloon project" which doesn't makes things easier when the country is mostly ruled by the "Flemish" at the Federal level. I don't want to start a debate about Wallo...

The 2016 result includes the insurance cover. Without the cover, it would have been dark red.
2017 was profitable as well, although far from the target, the exact results will be announced shortly.

OO-SFB will get the EW livery later this week in FCO. ... and the SN livery when it returns to SN in 10 months? And Carsten Spohr will complain that SN has bad results... Eurowings pays the Eurowings paint, Brussels Airlines pays the Brussels Airlines paint. Brussels Airlines' balance sheet is not ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

1) Really... no airline with 50-60 planes can develop without an alliance... Want me to make a list? Yes, please do. I am very interested which (European) airlines with a fleet of around 50-60 aircraft fly short haul and long haul and that are not part of an alliance or a larger group. I think the ...

Re: Ryanair in 2018

I think that doing so would push them above the 50% market share at BRU, and perhaps even on the Belgian market. With BRU serving roughly 75% of the Belgian market, an airline (group) that only operates from BRU would need at least a 67% market share in order to capture 50% of the whole Belgian mar...

Hence why going for low yield O&D traffic when Europe’s biggest low cost carrier has the biggest part of the home market on short haul was the wrong choice. That is not the main reason. And it's also not as black and white as you always make it to be. Regarding the brand: to me, it doesn't matt...

But I read somewhere that the important figure (EBITDA, 9 months 2017) was only €15M for SN for a total of €282M for the Eurowings Group... first nine months EBIT was 15M, EBITDA was substantially higher at 78M. Eurowings only EBIT: 204M on a revenue that is almost twice that of SN, so slightly bet...
