Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
If you average out over all airlines across the world, brand new aircraft will have a very similar total operating cost compared to 2nd hand, until they reach an age of 20-25y. Then heavy maintenance visits become the main cost driver. For new aircraft, lease / loan payments are high, but maintenanc...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Why isn't EW and the rest of the LH-group on the same booking engine anyway? There are LH-flights operated by EW as well. And I assume the same booking engine for both would be cheaper, ergo in the benefit of EW? That's one of the reasons why the EW-SN split was announced last June, some big decisi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
For widebodies aircraft, A330 fleet is perfect (why not A330-900) and A321LR... A330's are actually a bit too big for some destinations. In my opinion, the A321(X)LR is a very compelling aircraft and would fit very well in the current network, the only downside is its cargo capacity (especially for...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
SNG in December. Is that an A320 or a typo for an A330? Will the 3x A330-200 be replaced by newer birds or does the fleet shrink? It is not a typo. SFU (A330-200) will be replaced with SFH (A330-300). 2 A332 remain then in the fleet, SFZ and SFT. Which will also be replaced with A330-300 in due tim...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
What a nonsense discussion. The principal language within the company is English, just like it is the most aviation companies. As required by law, labour agreements / contracts are made up in Dutch, French, English, German, etc. Most of the employees speak the 3 main languages quite fluently. As you...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Flew OO-SNN in Eurowings colors yesterday evening from CPH to BRU. Crew didn't mention anything and it must be a bit confusing to passengers not in the know to end up in this aircraft. Good flight, as usual with SN. Yes, it can be confusing, but as long as the service on board is still typical Brus...

Re: BRU Winter 2019-2020: news, new routes, airlines
The Avro was a good plane for them as it was not a big one. They could fly on this niche market. Now they have only A319 and A320 which is too big for certain destinations. AF/KLM understand this very well and they bought the A220 to fly on thinner routes. This A220 could be a perfect plane for SN ...

Re: Thomas Cook ceases trading; UK CAA launches giant programme to fly its customers home
Meanwhile, seems like Thomas Cook Belgium is trying to rebrand as 'Neckermann Reizen' and selling (a limited number of) package holidays again? It looks like it is Thomas Cook Retail Belgium nv that is being rebranded. The other 3 entities: Thomas Cook Belgium nv, Thomas Cook Retail nv and Thomas C...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Yes, SN pays for the paint, but all one-time costs are charged back to EW. So, EW effectively pays for it. I think it is indeed a "quick and easy" paint.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
@crew1990: Outgoing SFM-N-O-V have already left the fleet. SFY will leave this month. SFW will leave in November. SNG in December. SFU early 2020. SFZ in 2021 and SFT in 2022. Incoming SFP is MSN 645 and is the fourth (and final*) for DUS ops. SFP should start operating in September (replacing the A...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
No official SN statement, but from conversations I had with two SN managers one can deduct that: All future SN widebodies will get minimal painting jobs: a white fuselage, a blue tail with the red b dots. That painting is there to stay. Pressure on costs will have that livery remain until there is ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures
Thank you very much for these figures! The performance of the long haul sector is impressive and makes me wonder : does it include the DUS ops for EW or only the SN ops @ BRU ? Also : Will they soon publish the SN figures among the network airlines of the LH Group? It does not include EW flights. I...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
The 4 network carriers in the LH Group are all operating in a different way, they all have a hub and a network but there isn't a single strategy that can be used across all airlines. There are 4 different strategies. All airplanes operated from BRU by Brussels Airlines will be (re)painted in Brussel...

Would this wise decision not be partly due to the efforts and good work of the German CEO Christina Foerster? Partly, perhaps. But I'm sure the powerful influencers at luchtz^h^h^h^h^h aviation24.be contributed at least as much! Thanks! If you mean this article: https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/l...

Re: Boeing 737 (MAX) news
Shame on me but I've thought to be seeing a taxiing Max from Tuifly one day, it appeared to be a 737NG with scimitar winglets... I thought Boeing only made them available on Max aircraft. They are slightly different. https://i.stack.imgur.com/lWvIF.jpg https://i.stack.imgur.com/KpeRZ.jpg Oth...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019
Saw a new (SN) maintenance vehicle at BRU in a hybrid SN/EW livery already. Now the aircraft livery is gradually changing to EW...I was wondering... Any news on when the crew is changing to their new uniforms? Does the SN crew based at DUS wear these uniforms already? These maintenance vehicles alr...

Re: Eurowings in 2019
Certainly not a good way to compete with AF on the Africa routes, as AF is refurbishing its A 330's with a new interior... Like I said, it was never intended to operate with the old cabins of CX and SIA. It is a last resort option in order to avoid cancelling 6 long haul flights a day (or operate w...

Not sure but i think SFB still has is Cathay cabin. What happens then to passengers that booked a flight in the Premium Economy cabin? Must be quite confusing...
