If you live in Ghent ore more west, ANR, CRL and BRU are more or less the some driving TIME.
LIL is very good alternative as well. From Ghent to the departure gates in LIL is about an hour.

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
Carsten Sphor has been invited to the royal palace.
An indication SN is in critical condition?
Probably Mr D asked his friends in Laken for their support in an attempt to save SN.

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
Wouldn't it be a solution to have a drop off zone near Brucargo and transport passengers by bus to the terminal? A little bit like during the works a couple of years ago.

AMS Schiphol Airport also has huge delays because of the terror thread: Problems with / delays at the passport control: "sometimes a queue of 100 meters": http://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/25508056/___Meer_marechaussees___.html http://nos.nl/artikel/2096247-lange-wachttijden-tijdens-zome...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
It is correct that the subsidies haven't been actually paid, BUT they are accounted for. Without subsidies the loss would been much higher in 2014 and the benefit of 2015 would only have been around 32M. If they are proven ilegal, SN will have to book a loss of 35M€. Why do you think SN's liquidity ...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
As said before: it really all depends on how quick things pick up again: a few months and they'll be just fine (say they will have lost 40 to 50m then, to be set off against an anticipated operational profit of some 60 or 70m); a couple of years and they will have to adjust to the new normal then. ...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
AF isn't exactly an example anyway. It's still far from being a competitive airline, contrary to SN lately. Even one year later they could still be claiming losses because of the attacks just to cover up their weak performance. SN will see the impact of this probably easily for 4-5 months indeed, m...

Re: Brussels Airlines future and financial perspective
Just had my first, post attack, flight on SN. LF below 50%. I don't have any insight in the forward booking numbers, but if they are not good, I see the perfect storm brewing. The money in the bank is not an asset but money from pre booked tickets, only a very tiny part is future benefit. Part of tha...

Re: Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks
Just read KLM will start flying AMS-BRU again next week. Less than 2 hours by train, is this the kind of flights we need at an airport with reduced capacity? These are the feeder flights for KL. I don't think that pax want to go to AMS and vice versa... That is exactly my point! People on this KLM ...

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!
Intercontinental flights and their consequent feeder flights are the most important ones for the airport. They do not only bring pax but also a lot of cargo. And therefore they also bring more support to the Belgian Economy. Ryanair brings loads off pax but zero cargo. Not to mention an A330 or B77...

Re: Easyjet in 2016
Investing money in another airline is so un-easyJet. The bought TEA Swiss, GO, GB and FlyBe's operations at LGW, but they never invested money in a competitor. On the other hand, they are sitting on a mountain of cash and they just issued some bonds to raise even more cash, so something could be up....

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!
From what I've heard, a total new infrastructure is being build/installed at this very moment. Before it opens for all airlines, a test should be done on a limited scale, but big enough to call it a test. I think it's a good decision to do this with the airline that is flexible and that is able to ...

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!
I think intercontinental flights as well as regional flights bringing passengers to them should get priority because the first type is currently lacking completely whereas the second type won't put much extra stress on limited check in capacities; high volume, low added value flights to leisure des...

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!
I suppose its not going to come at full capacity: which sirlines will be allowed in, who'll be kept away and for how long? Bag processing will be the restrictive factor, so probably charter flights will remain regional for a while. FR and EZY, when the majority of passengers travel without checked ...

Re: Repositioning of BRU operations to other airports after attacks
Hello everybody, It seems (if I didn't miss anything) that Brussels Airlines completely dropped its LHR ops. Apart the fact that the maintain of the route would help SN a lot for rerouting PAX with the numerous Star Alliance members active at Heathrow, is SN not afraid to lose its precious ...

I know, but after two days one could start hoping for a backup plan, no? And what about YOUR backup plan dude ?? H.A. At airport desk: No rerouting available, no rebooking possible as fare class is full on the days I wanted... Brussels airport is closed tomorrow! I know, but after two days one could start hoping for a backup plan, no? A friend of mine had exactly the same bad experience with SN during the volcano closure. I had an easyJet ticket and they paid my hire car and petrol. He couldn't even contact SN, afterward...

Have a flight with SN to BRU tomorrow, cancelled for obvious reasons. No message at all from SN though. Call center unreachable, no changes possible online. Last update on website regarding flights dated from yesterday (except note about bags updated early today) At airport desk: No rerouting avail...
