Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
On the other hand we live in a market economy and SN is a privately owned business. If the pilots don't like their work conditions, they are free to choose for would be greener pastures. If they do, SN - like FR did - will feel the squeeze on its core business: making profits from flying planes. SN...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
That's what I said. "Comparing gross salaries is of no use". Sorry to disagree! When two people do the same job in the same company, do you give them the same gross salary or the same take home pay? When comparing gross salaries SN is already in the second half of the league by the way, t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Comparing gross salaries is of no use. For every worker, be it an unqualified factory worker or a highly qualified worker (like a pilot), the only important thing is always the net salary. You don't buy the groceries and pay your bills with the gross salary. And I'm always cautious with what journa...

Excellent article from a man who knows what he is talking about (French only)! He also wrote some excellent articles about the Sabena bankruptcy. Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
On the strike front: One of the seven remaining SN scheduled aircraft for today, SN3631 to CDG departed normally, but the return flight is cancelled! Are the A320 aircraft and crew going to visit Paris today? Logic, no? This is a feeder flight, it would be useless to fly 150 passengers to BRU and p...

Re: Please let us respect all opinions and discuss with serenity, please no personal attacks
A ticket is not a promise. A ticket is a valid contract that has to be respected. Once the ticket is sold, the passengers have rights. Everyone working in the travel & tourism industry respects that basic principle. That is my guideline for my posts, even when that principle conflicts with corp...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
A reminder for everybody to join forces to keep a strong Belgian airline. Will Air Belgium become the new airline to replace Brussels Airlines? Belgium is too small for a strong Belgian airline. A Belgian branch of LH is not necessarily bad, from a passenger point of view even a Belgian bran...

Personal attacks between those two have been posted since as long as I can remember, I have repeatedly reported them but was systematically ignored. Once again Jan is speaking wise words! Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
I wouldn't be surprised if Lufthansa purposely didn't give in to what pilots were asking for just so they would strike and it would give then more excuses to do what they want with SN... Just all very sad! Hopefully Air Belgium gets their wings to start Hong Kong in 2 weeks... wouldn't hurt to have...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
The call centre is overwhelmed, despite the fact that it has been reinforced. It often takes half an hour to find a solution that suits the passenger. A simple ‘change your booking” tool on the website would solve the problem, but as with pilots and aircraft, Brussels Airlines has no money to pay f...

60,000 passengers to rebook or reimburse. Even if it takes only 5 minutes per passenger, that would require 5,000 hours of work or 625 agents working 8 hours per day. Brussels Airlines cannot possibly handle that! The call centre is overwhelmed, despite the fact that it has been reinforced. It ofte...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
I'm afraid all this will only speed-up the melting of SN into EW. Our crews better take crash courses of German! Exactly. It will be a lot easier for LH to ditch a brand that people associate with striking. Just like with Sabena, it's the unions that give the final blow to the company. Pretty unbel...
