Re: 2017 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

I dont think the BMI aircraft are certified to land in LCY. You're probably right: the E135 itself IS certified but I can't imagine BMI having done the necessary paper work and training. VLM: i have no clue if they can still doing this with their slovanian AOC. Like Poiu said: it's not a problem no...

Re: 2017 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

According to press agency Belga, Antwerp Airport is talking with two airlines to ensure a 'seamless' continuation of the flights. The deadline for an announcement should be two weeks from now, September 15th. There's talk of a 40-50 seater which brings VLM back in the picture although Marcel Buelens...

Re: 2017 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

I 'took one for the team' so to speak and booked ANR-LCY early December through a German online ticket seller (apparently blissfully unaware of the cancellation). So let's wait and see what happens now and what I'm being offered in terms of alernatives. (SPOILER ALERT: The ticket isn't confirmed yet...

Re: 2017 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

And what about DAT who are flying on behalf of CityJet now? I guess they have the strongest argument to take over the current CityJet-slots? Well yes, but DAT doesn't own the slots. Those are Cityjet's to give up (or sell, more likely). And even if they'd get them more or less for free, operating A...

Re: 2017 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

IMHO, the list of credible candidates to take over the route is rather short (but still, not so short as to despair): - VLM (with or without a Belgian AOC but with one of the Fokkers for sure) - BA (operated by BA Cityflyer with E190 or if that's too big Sun-Air with a Dornier 328) - BMI (ERJ 135/14...

Re: 2017 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

The French and Italian routes are seasonal anyway, so they aren't bookable for the winter season. Amsterdam is year round but as a codeshare with KLM. In other words: only Antwerp and Dublin are really comparable.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2017

If nothing in their business plan for Antwerp makes any sense that's maybe because it isn't supposed to make sense. My guess is their deal to buy VLM involved a number of conditions: a promise to keep the HQ in Antwerp, to operate from Antwerp and to do so under Belgian law. Hence the need to rent a...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2017

Ah, so there will be flights by this Chinese-Slovenian-Dutch-Canadian-Belgian company from Antwerp after all. To places like Manchester, London Southend, London City, Jersey, Rotterdam, Milan, Prague, Berlin and Hamburg. I might very well be making some of these up based on my misreading of a very b...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

You're absolutely right about OO-VLO. Judging by the look of it recently, it's in no shape to fly. But still, I guess they had to register it as well :) As for the other four: OO-VLL is apparently now known as PH-DMD (again) and gone to Denim Air as well. Then again, who knows what's going to happen...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Some small but potentially important news: a total of 7 Fokker 50's now show SHS Antwerp Aviation as the 'holder' in the Belgian register. Up until recently, all of these planes were still registered to VLM Airlines but have now been linked to the new company. I'm not sure about the exact rules, but...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

And besides "what route should we fly" or "do you think the cabin crew should wear a hat" on their FB page, it is all very quiet with the new VLM. It hope it is not another hoax and their plans are soon getting into force. You're forgetting the 'do you want free snack or pay for...

Re: ANR 06/11/2016 Change of ATR + Mexican jet

The capacity goes up from 46 to 70 passengers. But since this seems only a very temporary arrangement while OY-RUO is out for maintenance, I doubt they're actually selling any of those 24 extra seats.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Not that quiet actually :) Here's what SHS has announced themselves three weeks ago: - VLM Airlines will start with 6 Fokker 50 aircraft. - Within a year the company plans to introduce the A320/A330 for medium and long haul destinations. - Within 9 to 12 months the Fokker 50 aircraft will begin bein...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

I'm having trouble seeing how all this will work as well. But I do reserve my full judgement for later as there's so much we don't know yet. Referring back to the old VLM doesn't make sense to me either as this is a completely different company that all other remarks aside is clearly not going to fo...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

The ch-aviation article isn't necessarily a confirmation as they refer to/translate the Trends article. That being said, from what I hear, the story is basically true - except some shall we say 'operational details'.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Regarding the airplanes: as far as I can tell... - 4 planes (OO-VLF, L, M & P) were flown to Saarbrucken (SCN) after the bankruptcy - 1 plane (OO-VLS) was already stored at SCN after a repair job in April that VLM never paid for - 1 plane (OO-VLO) has been stored in Antwerp for months but largel...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Regarding this Dutch taxi company and their 'plans' for VLM, consider this: - How much does it cost them to talk to the curator? Pretty much 0 EUR, except maybe their transportation costs between Amsterdam and Antwerp. - How much extra do they have to pay to get their name and a summary of their act...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

That's what their booking engine says NOW. Last week, one could book flights for this week (Monday through Friday) before they indeed disappeared. I guess they weren't ready in time.
