Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Stupid Spohr came to ask 290 000 000 euros to our gouvernment, and he came with a private jet. Really This is one of the jets the training academy of Lufthansa is using, thus part of the hours flight by pilot trainees. By the way there are 5 of them in the fleet. How frustrated can you be ? Yeh a f...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

But coming back to facts: - it is known that Lufthansa is the driving force towards the 321XLR development - however, no plane is flying yet - and if Brussels should become some, it has to prove first that it can handle the cost of becoming them, as they would be brand new How is LH the driving for...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

When the night stop is done with an A319, as there are 2 pilot and 3 ccm on board, you need to book 10 rooms, 5 for the crew arriving late and 5 for the crew departing early, so 12 when it's operated on A320. So it's cheaper to operate an A319 over an A320. As OS is taking them out of their fleet, ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Regarding to those two letters: Lufthansa has to defend their position, Belgium has to defend theirs. Simple as that. If the prime minister would write a letter "we demand xxxx jobs to be cut" or "we demand a smaller company", that would be a weak position to start from in furthe...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Why not follow Italy's example ... Everyone always looks at 'the Swiss dream' - ... What about comparing SN to TAP? Similar fleet, similar home-market, SN being focused on Africa compared to TAP's focus on South America,... Both member of Star Alliance. But TAP isn't member of a big group. If they ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

As businesses are allowed to open waay before visiting family and friends is allowed, maybe business trips are allowed before leisure travelling is allowed?
And the decision of the safety council is for Belgians, there was no word on opening the borders (and thus allowing flights) for foreigners.

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Oh, you mean the perception of the general public? Yeh, a jet goes "woosh" and a turboprop goes "broem".

But people flying direct from BRU to BLL or BRS in stead of transferring and loosing time won't care about that ;)

Re: Austrian Airlines in 2020

Why would they retire their 319-fleet (7x) and keep their 320 (28x) and 321-fleet? If demand is low, it's better to have a smaller airplane, no?

Re: Air Antwerp in 2020

On another note: as they only have one F50, that plane needs maintenance too. Does anybody know if they're using this downtime to do the checks they need to do every so many hours/cycles? Air Antwerp told me once they have a solution, but they wouldn't disclose what. I guess it is another F-50 from...

Re: Air Belgium in 2020

I have the impression that Air Belgium did relatively more repatration flights compared to SN. Correct, or a wrong feeling? Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I can agree SN is important. I'm not saying SN shouldn't be saved. But Thalys and NMBS/SNCF also have a heavily reduced schedule, limited revenue and high (personnel) costs. Those might ask for financial support too, and as a Euro can only be spent once, train companies have the advantage over plane...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I can understand your reasoning, but letting SN sink down would mean a huge blow to Brussels Airport as well, still Belgiums second economical pool. I've seen this argument a few times, but how much does that economical activity rely on SN? Just a thought: Cargo-operations are a big part of the eco...
