Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

I wonder why people are insisting SN needs to deploy A330's accross the Atlantic. From BRU the A321(X)LR aircraft is a perfectly capable aircraft. You can fit a cosy 2x2 side by side or 1x1 slanted C product, a PE with some extra legroom and a good economy cabin. This can work also for Africa and fo...

Not quite BRU related but a news bomb none the less. So they'll fly 3x week nonstop to NYC, I guess they'll still fly to LAX, and are pointing at SIN for transfers to London and Europe.

Is that an A320 or a typo for an A330?

Will the 3x A330-200 be replaced by newer birds or does the fleet shrink?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Flew OO-SNN in Eurowings colors yesterday evening from CPH to BRU. Crew didn't mention anything and it must be a bit confusing to passengers not in the know to end up in this aircraft. Good flight, as usual with SN.

Re: BRU Summer 2019: news, new routes, airlines

Air Astana in the first-half of October 2019 plans to operate Nur-Sultan – Brussels service, on board Boeing 767 aircraft. Based on schedule listing, the airline plans to operate service on 11OCT19 and 14OCT19. (Brussels departure on 14OCT19 will operate Brussels – Almaty routing). KC573 TSE1200 – ...

SN has lost the battle of Africa

I've been contributing in various topics over the past weeks and months and figured a dedicated topic will be more beneficial. The title is provocative but it is my view on the situation and is intended at fostering discussions. SN has had some growth on its existing markets in Africa over the past ...

Of course they could lease one or more relatively soon. And there's the irony where they could rapidly build a frequent service in BRU while SN remains stuck with larger A330's flying less full due to their competition.

Could this open the door for SN to operate to China, at least PEK? I mean it's too big of a market to be absent.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Look at TAP's expansion in the "cut-throat-low revenue battle" to the US : https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/tap-portugal/tap-outlines-route-plan-for-2020-with-focus-on-usa-and-brazil/ I looked. It make sense to go after the Moscow vv. Latin America market seeing LIS location, same goes ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

UA will never leave the IAD route to BRU. This is one of their most profitable routes bcs of NATO. I work in these diplomatic/military realms, you'd be surprised how little actually take the direct flights. Everyone has an allegiance to their country's airline or another. Sure there is some trafic ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

As to SN keeping IAD all year round if I understood correctly... well, weren't many of us hoping for an evening flight to NYC (instead of SN to IAD and ??? UA to IAH ?). Seeing SN's network (African wave is in the morning) and the fact that it is pointless for them to enter the cut-throat low reven...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Smart move to put each airline (AC & SN) in it's more natural market. Wonder how much capacity and mix of carriers (AC, SN, TS) there will eventually be. Seeing the move by SN to make IAD year-round and what I could read on this forum I would expect UA to perhaps swap IAD with IAH or run both in...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Seeing that the BRU-CDG-BRU morning flights are all about connecting Paris and Africa via BRU, it would then make sense to add the LH, LX & OS codes on them if the group's intention is to funnel Africa traffic using SN. I understand you may want to be more careful with alliance partners, but her...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Africa should be the main focus untill SN has a solid financial base. LH might give a hand by rerouting their Africa bound passengers through SN iso ET. All SN flights to Africa are in code share with Lufthansa, since many years. If you go on LH website, connecting thru FRA and BRU are often, the f...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

According to airfleets.net SN has 16 A330's in fleet: 4 x -200 and 12 x -300's. We know that 1 x -200 (SFY) is now gone from that list. That leaves 15 A330's if the list is close to being up to date. Isn't that much more than SN is actually flying around? How many are in maintenance or flying elsewh...

And they are not helped even by their group partners. I got a targeted email from LX last week to fly between BRU and NYC, WAS or BOS with them. SN offers 2 of those destinations.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

When it comes to Africa SN isn't really benefitting from alliance dymanics. TP and ET are going at it solo and SA is too far South to be of any use. LH and LX are still flying where there is money to be made for them, even competing with SN. TK is carving its own share of the market at lightning spe...
