I have seen a German Air Force A-340 on the ramp at Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia (about 25 miles [40 Km] west of Washington, DC). The problem with composits is not that is is more brittle then aluminium, the problem is that with composit materials it is a lot more difficul to find the cracks.

I didn't know that the P-51D could take 2 people. Is this a modified one, or a training version TF-51D? If modified, what did they take out of the plane to create an extra seat?

Although off topic:

What I wondered is how do the PS-90 engines found in the Il-96-300 compare to western engines (like CF6 on A310-300) in things like reliability, fuel consumption and maintenance these days? Because, as far as I know the PS-90 is the most modern jet engine in Russia.
