Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
The 290 Million loan needs to be repaid within 6 years, the shares of SN will act as collateral.
Brand, Belgian identity, and growth guarantees.
At first glance, not a bad deal and a serious commitment of LH.
We'll see.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Rumors are that many SN staff signed up for the severance packages, some amounting to 6 digits and years worth of salary, but there is no money to pay for them, and that LH is waiting for money from the Belgian government to pay these severance jackpots. If true, it's time to shut down this clown s...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
The argumentation seems to be pretty much emotional. So what the scenarios? 1. Both parties align to an agreemt like in the other countries as well - as many as possible of the existing jobs will be saved; the downsside is that some local pride will have to be swallowed, but this happened to the Au...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
So it looks like Belgium is offering Lufthansa version after version of a deal and Lufthansa is not taking any, only complaining about it through Vranckx and their PR people that the deal has to be structurally the same as the other deals, etc..., while Austria got a better deal. The Belgian governm...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
SN cancels her plans for reactivating more planes from August onwards, due to financial problems (e.g. only 2 long haul instead of 5) They urgently need a deal between Lufthansa and the Belgian government It's going to rain vouchers. I ask again, why do they need a deal with the Belgian government ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
In the end, LH will have to take the deal that is on the table or give up their hopes of state aid and decide by themselves whether they want to recapitalize it or let it go insolvent. Those are the only 3 options for LH. I think that LH will recapitalize it in small bits to the bare minimum to kee...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
So, when's the next deadline?
Why can't Lufthansa just pump some of those 10 Billions they got and forget about Belgian state aid?
Why are these 290 millions so important?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
LH has already set many deadlines and they have vanished into the rear view mirror without an issue. By the end of the 2nd week of May, by the end of May, by the end of June, and now by July 11th. LH has to realise that they are dealing with government, and government doesn't take deadlines from pri...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Wire money from LH to SN. That's your solution. You talk about ethics, not real power struggles between two economic actors/entities. Pilots should not give that much salary, that much FT/DT restrictions and so on. But reality is : if you don't give in, you will be fired. So pilots accept the shitt...

Re: Impact of aviation on the Coronavirus crisis
Completely shutting down air travel for passengers could maybe save some lives, at the expense of a heavy economical impact. On the other hand: smoking also kills a lot of people, but it's not forbidden. Neither is the use or selling of alcohol. Both products which aren't necessary (like air travel...

It's not a matter of we can or can't. We have to if we want companies, airlines included, to survive.rwandan-flyer wrote: ↑06 Jul 2020, 15:21 We agrre, but you can't shut down ALL aviation, you kill the economy.
If we keep going this, governments are going to start failing.
