Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

But the leases for these 'new' planes have to be paid as well, I assume? Why not store M/N/O until their lease expires and in the mean time deploy the newer jets resulting in more reliability, cheaper operating costs and a higher payload thus revenue? It's not like it takes forever to switch cabins...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

That's the whole point of the long haul renewal exercise. The "new" aircraft are just arriving a few months too soon. and thus they can't simply advance the introduction into the fleet and letting SFM N O go ? If the new cabin is not ready yet and with very expensive early lease terminati...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Any idea about which destinations will replace the 3 frequencies lost on Kinshasa? SN doesn't seem to be in a hurry to fly its aircraft. Or are they hoping Kabila will change his mind? Has been reported a few times already. Soon (in June) IAD will go to daily (+1), Accra/Lomé will get a respectivel...

Re: Brussels Airlines loses three of its 7 weekly frequencies to Kinshasa

Luanda has never been a high volume market (but the 'few' passengers can generate high yields), which always meant a good combination with FIH which has the high volumes. But now FIH simply doesn't have the volumes, the issue is not as simple as oh they have to downgrade to 4/week so these flights w...

Re: BRU infrastructure: future

As announced before in the Brussels Airport 2040 vision, the satellite will be again prepared to accommodate passengers. In a few weeks a certain numbers of admin departments will move from the satellite to one of the brand new office buildings on the airport land side. At the same current moment, ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

By the way, today LH has ordered two more 777-300ER for Swiss, and rumor has it that LX will dedicate two extra A330 to new African destinations with LH prospecting itself for new African destinations to be opened once they get the 777X and some A330 are freed up. If the rumors were to be verified ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

We all know SN pilots are definitely not the biggest earners in the industry, quite the contrary. But comparing salaries between SN and the biggest EU legacy carriers is the biggest b*llsh*t ever. And besides the lower but still competitive gross salaries, taxes in Belgium are a big issue. Besides t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

How can we both scream because the Congolese authorities reduce the frequency of flights on FIH and afford the luxury of canceling flights to FIH... (today) unless there are few passengers of course. Given the losses announced on this beginning of the year, it may be necessary to rethink the networ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Will it be to add frequencies on some lines or replace one plane with another one ? If you can share information obviously! As from June some existing routes will get an additional frequency until the end of the season (IAD to daily, +1 on ACC-LFW and I believe +1 on EBB-KGL), but that's more a rep...

Re: Eurowings in 2018

Thanks for this enlightening video. At 01:16 appears a pop up "Reclinable Backseat" in the "Best" cabin. Are they telling me that the backseat is NOT reclinable in the Basic/Smart cabin? For a 6+ hour night flight? Are you kidding? This makes my next remark very futile but the i...

OO-SFC will fly for SN, not EW. Must be a mistake of Skyliner. Preparations are fully ongoing at SN to have it in commercial operations as from June.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Kanaal Z has an item about it in its daily news: it looks quite nice and the lounge is definitely much bigger than it used to be, which is a very good thing because the explosive growth of Brussels Airlines over the last few years ment that it was often quite full at peak moments the last year or s...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

l. Per diems are per definition without taxes, and they are also not 50% higher between LH and SN. Some of the per diems is money you need to eat because you are in an expensive place abroad, it is not salary! If you don't benefit from per diems on most foreign trips (=having money after deducting ...

Lufthansa has ordered 55 brand new airplanes for Swiss... And Swiss has had a major long haul expansion first off with the addition of 10 777s with bigger capacity, by adding flights on many routes like Chicago, Miami etc... here in Boston they doubled from 1 to 2 flights a day... thats a huge incr...

Re: Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 news

Used SSJ100s? Already? The type is in commercial use now for 7 years with the first examples far from being up to later standards and often delivered to unstable Russian/Asian carriers that went through rough times over the years (some still existing, others not). So I wouldn't be surprised if ther...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

From Jan 16 till Feb 6, SN501, which is supposed to be a daily flight, seems to have been de-programmed every Tuesday, i.e. 4 times, + cancellation on Feb 3. Other cancellations/de-programming: Feb 21, March 2, March 7, March 21, April 1. That makes a total of 10 within 10 weeks (14%!) for a suppos...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

This numbers looks bad to me ....And this is the reality. Except the cancellations, the on time performance is not quite worse than e.g. DL on JFK (except ex-BRU which is a little better for DL) and on YYZ it's beter than AC on YUL. Of course this is a simplistic comparison, but that seems to be th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

RoMax, do you know the T&Cs for pilots in Europe? If yes, you do know the ones at EW are borderline insulting don’t you? Why do you think EW is struggling to recruit former Air Berlin pilots whilst Ryanair and easyJet are flooded with applications? If you don’t know the T&Cs, please don’t p...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Pax bound to JFK and YYZ could probably be taken care of by other airlines. No doubt about that, but it's sad to see SN becoming a virtual airline on TAtl routes. Let's not exaggerate either, the OTP is definitely not great and should be improved (nobody is denying that), but it's not like flying S...
