Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

- With 32 seats, the Dornier is probably the right size for this kind of operation. I'm not sure about that, the VLM-Fokkers are often fully booked. There are many other routes flown by VLM where 32 seats would be plenty... I agree Sun-Air would have a hard time providing enough capacity to serve t...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

Danish carrier Sun-Air - operating mainly as a British Airways franchisee - is exiting the London City to Hamburg market as of May 8th. BA will start flying this route themselves, mostly to raise capacity beyond what Sun-Air could provide with the Dornier 328 jets/props they use between HAM and LCY....

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Nothing but bad news after bad news coming from VLM since the "management buy out"... This cancellation is just the prelude to the bankruptcy. I'm not saying they're doing great - not at all - but cancelling this deal doesn't automatically bring them any closer to bankruptcy. Quite the co...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

With VLM's loads what they are, I wouldn't be surprised if they actually took this opportunity to add some smaller planes. A 32-seater (or thereabouts) might give them some more flexibility on the thinner routes, with even Waterford-Luton now often having a load factor of 45 to 50 procent. If they k...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

One of the advantages that Chalair has and VLM didn't is that their tickets are being sold on the Air France website and also that passengers can collect Flying Blue miles on those flights. Which is a huge advantage to be sure. But because they're not operated as code share flights with Air France,...

hopefully they do not offer drinks?!! What about the crew? Layover of 20-25 min..they abandon the aircraft after pax disembark and just before boarding to run for the loos at the terminal? What if the toilets are full and they have to wait? Flights delayed? And those planes are probably at remote g...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

Are Chalair reliable? They've just abandoned LUX-LYS a few weeks after launching it. They did, very shortly after Hop announced they would start flying the route... but long before those flights actually started. So I wouldn't especially call them reliable or in it for the long run. But who knows, ...

But what will be the fare to travel to geneva?? In france there are also another company (twinjet) flying with the beech 1900 doing domestic flights and they are not really that cheap!! Well i was hoping another company doing this flight. Looks like the cheapest flights are around 255 euro return. ...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

French company Chalair will indeed take over the flights between Antwerp and Geneva (no date mentioned, but I assume they could start as early as March 14). In addition, they will start flying between Antwerp and Caen (Normandy) 3 times a week as from April 4th. This is their new routemap: http://i....

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

A new airline will operate from ANR. The name will be announced on wednesday, they will take over the route to GVA wich VLM left and start a new route. And looking to the expansion and good loadfactors of JAF at ANR, i think the problem is rather VLM wich is unknown by most flemings... If we're goi...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

VLM is a bike without pedals they go where they get big subsidies and they have to leave when the supports stop Following the subsidies is one thing, pissing off a long-term partner like Antwerp Airport is another. Don't expect much goodwill from ANR towards VLM in the future - and thus little to n...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Strange, sad, disappointing that ANR is not an economical viable base to develop and sustain multiple routes, next to the LCY de facto 'winner' route It hasn't been for VLM no. But even if FDH turns out to be a big success for them and they end up leaving ANR altogether, I'd still consider Antwerp ...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Looks like VLM will stop operating the RTM-LCY route for CityJet as of March 26th this year (at the end of the winter season, more or less). As far as one can look in the reservation engine, all flights from that day on are operated by RJ85 instead of the Fokker 50's. Nothing changes on the ANR-LCY ...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

And what to think from Chalair? Also a small French company flying several Beechcraft 1900's (19 seats). You know more than most of us it seems :) I looked at Chalair as well, but they seemed to focus more on destinations in the South of France and less 'adventurous' compared to Twin Jet. But of co...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

Could it be "HOP" perhaps?? I was thinking among the same lines at first, as they already have a (small) presence at Geneva. But then again, it would be an odd addition to their route network for sure. As it stands, all of their flights start or end in France and their operations at GVA s...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016
