Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
Malgalari, did the flames and smoke come from the tailpipe (behind the engine) or from the side of the engine? Did the smoke/smell spread into the cabin? How long could you see the flames and where they shooting out of the engine or just burning locally? Based on this I can guess if they dropped spa...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport
I think that the staff are right in this case. At Flightcare, they put one red cap on two flights, sometimes even 3 if the gates are nearby. SN has a lot of problems due to this. Sometimes they have to wait for a red cap to free himself, in order to connect the jetway, or the loadsheet comes late, c...

I think that the debate and knowledge base on this forum is of very high level with great arguments flying in all directions sometimes. A lot of issues start when the language barrier causes a misunderstand of the tone of the conversation and arguments. I work in both worlds and I see that the Flemi...

Re: Austrian Airlines considers South American flights
If OS can do it, why not SN which has a larger home market? Depending on ther destination you'll need a lot of aircraft for such routes. If you take Sao Paulo as an example, you'll need at least 1.5 aircraft (fortunately SN has a midday long haul departure) unless you don't intend to fly to it dail...

Re: Interview with Ryan Air's longest serving pilot
For a fair comparison, the newspaper in question should interview SN pilots. What do they think about their crappy 7 on - 3 off rosters, never ending salary cuts, high taxation that leaves a big part of the salary taxed at 57%! Their powerless unions that talk a lot and even try, but do nothing prod...

Re: Interview with Ryan Air's longest serving pilot
So now "The inquirer" is the official anti-Ryanair tabloid newspaper on luchtzak.be What are you talking about? I have merely provided this forum with a link to a news article which I found in a Belgian newspaper and didn't find posted on this site yet. I think this is a relevant posting ...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
May I point out that SN actually has a backup almost all off the time... And from june 18 on, every day. There will be an A330 down for mx every day, and this will be available as backup should the need arise. Just a matter of planning some slack into the mx, and don't take them in at the last poss...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
Dear Lefreak, I've had it too with your SN fan boys attitude of going defensive whenever there is a critic about your airline. You said that I'm insulting SN technicians, funnily enough I probably know more of them than you do. Please point me to the insult? Aren't you the one being defensive? Your ...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
Let's focus on the thread here, every post takes us far away with out-of-context quoting by some children who are trying to do PR "in the name of the airline". Or are they lawyers? Or politicians. How can you decide what's in the best interest of SN technicians? Are you one? Were you one? ...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
Dear Werknemer, I have the most profound respect for the technicians at SN, both good ones and bad ones. You say that there are bad technicians within Brussels Airlines. I invite you to send a confidential and private message to webmaster Luchtzak with their names. The webmaster can then confirm he...

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
If there is an Embraer aircraft that can help SN, it's the Brasilia. Yeah... Very consistand you are... In one topic you give SN a hard time because they fly modern A330's where the oldest is 17 years old, and now you suggest to get an ancient 120 where the youngest flying anywhere in the world is ...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
Dear Werknemer, I have the most profound respect for the technicians at SN, both good ones and bad ones. I apologise if my post isn't clear. I won't apologise to the technicians because I'm not pointing the finger to them, quite to the opposite they should be supported by highlighting these issues t...

Re: Mayrhuber back at Lufthansa, as Chairman this time
In my view, where Maryhuber can be described as a "destroyer", Frantz is an "aircraft carrier". The victim: "rowing boat" Lufthansa. I'm not an anti-management guy, quite to the opposite. But what has to be said is that what has been going on at airline managements thro...

Re: Interview with Ryan Air's longest serving pilot
If you don't like a company, you quit. No one forces anyone to become and stay a Ryanair pilot. It says enough about that pilot, who is sinking to a very low level. If he doesn't like it, he can quit, there are hundreds of cadets who will happily take his place in order to repay their huge training ...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
According to flightradar24, OO-SFY has been idle since May 2. 4 days to replace an engine! Is this normal? Yes it is, especially if it is unscheduled. As others have pointed out before, an engine stall has nothing to do with the age of the plane either, these engines literally get hammered during t...

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
I think that Embraer are marvelous aircraft and are very popular with passengers compared to other aircraft. However, they're like the Concorde. I don't know of a single airline that has a successful business plan centered around any ERJ or E-Jets. In my opinion, given its high lease cost and relati...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day
But the comment that everything is to blame to the "old and tired birds", is a bit out there. Especially as no one has come up with facts yet as what the cause is. It's just an attempt to put SN down and stating they fly old unreliable junk. I'm sorry, that just isn't true. Yes the A330 f...

I'm just posting to highlight the great thread that this one has been. Civilised conversation, great inputs from everyone, great sharing of information. Re: National Air Cargo crashed in Bagram, Afghanistan
Load shifting is one possibility. This is being assumed as the cause as the pilots have maydayed that they were stalling due to a possible loadshift. The video does seem to confirm the theory of load shifting, but if you know what weight and balance does to a large aircraft, you may not be so sure t...
