Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

Has anyone spotted the Chalair flight to Hamburg yet? It wasn't on the departure board yesterday (and didn't fly according to FR24) and isn't today either.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

That flight didn't actually divert, it just one of those small mistakes FR24 sometimes makes. As far as the location of the planes: 3 of them are in FDH (F, L and M) while 5 are on the ground in Antwerp and one is in RTM. OO-VLO has been in storage for a while in ANR - according to most accounts it ...

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

And while Antwerp-Geneva shows no flights available after July 8, the route between Antwerp and Caen has completely disappeared from the Chalair site. Not on their fancy (ahem) routemap, not there when you select ANR as the 'From' airport.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Probably the costs for the WAT route was too expensive, because the LF wasn't that bad. Why yes, they did find the costs at WAT and LTN too high. Which is why they stopped paying their bills, pissed people off on both sides of the Irish Sea and made themselves rather unwelcome in some places. So wh...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Let's just say that when it comes to outspoken people with big ideas, it's often a matter of who they surround themselves with and whether or not they're willing to take advice from others. Clearly, FVG is not going to run this all by himself or with a small team of other almost 80-year olds. The te...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Hmm, it really sounds like VLM could do well to return to a smaller, less ambitious operation that brings things back to basic; run by someone who knows the company and its (potential) partners well and has good connections in the (Belgian) aviation world. I wonder who that could be? ;) Thinking of...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

The news came to the surface quite a bit sooner than I thought. Basically: - VLM Airlines has run out of money, they have some 6 million euro in debts. - The company has requested protection against its creditors. - 3 million euro of that debt is towards KBC who have now blocked their accounts - The...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Seems VLM soon won't have to worry anymore about cutting routes, paying off their debt or finding/keeping staff. At least not the company as we know it now. Expect more official news (all too) soon.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

April came and went but I for one haven't heard anything about routes being cut (or added for that matter). In the meantime, it does seem VLM has trouble finding pilots left and right. As Shengenzone reported in another topic, CityJet had to send their own plane down from Amsterdam last week to oper...

But an article in a newspaper can kill them now, because people will think twice before booking with them. So well done detijd.be You know, I hope they survive, I really do. But mostly for the 160 people still working there. But really, a company that uses their own employees to finance their daily...

Thanks Passenger, I see what you're saying now.

By the way: they got their LGG slots for free. Not that that made the whole operation 'free' of course. But still, remarkable.

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

I think what VLM is doing in 2016 isn't bad, the problem is what they have done in 2015. In 2016 they are cancelling the routes which are not working well and where you make loss on every flight (with LF less than 30%, sometimes even less than 20%). As well the decision that they don't lease the Su...

Re: VLM Airlines news 2016

Oh my, that doesn't sound good at all. They're really counting on Friedrichshafen now, which is probably all they have left as they don't seem to be in a position to take any risks now, however small they may seem. They've been shedding staff, selling old planes, burning money and - most worryingly ...

Re: Repositioning of BRU operations to other airports after attacks

Does anyone know what happened with SN1614, supposed to be the return flight from Bilbao to Antwerp? Looking at the Antwerp Airport website and FR24, it seems it's been cancelled. The outbound however (SN1613) WAS flown, so it looks like OO-DWB will (be forced to) nightstop in Bilbao.

Wrong info from Flightradar I guess. OO-DWG from NCE is approaching ANR as we speak.

Re: 2016 Antwerp airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

A VLM Fokker 50 with only 32 pax offers more nett profit then a Sun Air Dornier 328 with 32 pax (with the tickets sold at the same price). VLM's low lease costs and today's fuel prices make the difference. I have no reason to doubt that, but let's not simply assume that Sun-Air will be forced to se...
