Re: VLM Airlines taken over by management, buys SSJ100 aircraft

According to De Tijd, the deal for the new Sukhoi is about to burst: "It's almost certain that the basic agreement between leasing company Ilyushin Finance and VLM will be cancelled."

Where it was presented is irrelevant. Furthermore, it was ordered but not funded by the ECA. Neither are the researchers depending on funding from the ECA for their future career. The ECA is not sponsoring any professorships, in contrast to the tobacco industry.

You were saying the conference at which it has been presented shows that it can't be independent. That argument is simply not good enough a.k.a. the association fallacy.

Re: Background info on hiring techniques at the low cost airlines

So independent research should never be presented at sponsored conferences? In that case, there won't be many conferences left.

Politicians shouldn't do what "the public" deems necessary. Perfect recipe for short sighted measurements, which bring nothing but maybe some temporary popularity for the politicians involved. We have an MD as minister of health and I'm pretty sure she's surrounded by the right advisors wh...

Re: 2014 Charleroi airport (CRL/EBCI) latest news

Where do you see confusion Atlantis? I only see a discussion about the different bus links.

I find the TEC bus between Charleroi-Sud and CRL a big no-no. You never know whether you'll get on the first bus during peek periods, which usually means you have to take an even earlier train.

A competitive ticket price in Belgium isn't necessarily at the same level as a competitive price in The Netherlands.

That was before. First it was 15 minutes, then it was shortened to 10 and ultimately you had to pay 2 EUR for half an hour.

Last time I went to drop off someone at that hell hole, it was minimum 2 EUR. So they've lowered the price again? Too many complaints?

Mind the false friends limoen (lime in English) and lemon.

Re: Which future fighter jet for Belgian Defence?

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia over Crimea has catapulted us back to the Cold War. In 1994 US, the UK and Russia promised to protect Ukrainian integrity when they gave up their nuclear weapons. In casu: when Russia invades Ukraine, the NATO will have to react. The tiny chance that Belgium w...

Re: Live: ET B763ER holding over GVA, hijack

I find it quite ironic in light of the results of the Swiss mass immigration referendum. If Switzerland wants to be perceived as the country that eagerly takes from its neighbours, but is reluctant to give anything back (i.e. access to their labour market), they're on the right track.

Re: Live: ET B763ER holding over GVA, hijack

The hijacked Boeing 767 was escorted by Italian Eurofighters and subsequently by French Mirages, but not by Swiss interceptors because the hijacking happened outside office hours (I kid you not).
