Re: Lufthansa buys the remaining 55% of Brussels Airlines

Funny that you mention PMI, it was announced today that it will be a new destination in S17. Are you talking of Brussels Airlines? Didn't see this news yet... Yes he is.... PMI will be served as from the end of March indeed. ;) Any other new routes? I remember tolipanebas giving a hint they weren't...

Re: BRU Summer 2017: news, new routes, airlines

Indeed, YEREVAN was the 'exotic' destination I was talking about. Not a bad list of totally NEW destinations for next summer, is it? And there's more to come still... :silent: Compare that to some big mouth coming over from Dublin today to basically say to the press his airline will add not a single...

Re: BRU Summer 2016: news, new routes, airlines

Indeed,
Vueling will close its BRU base and will only serve a couple of Spanish routes as from this winter.
That's the first of the low service airlines which is kicked out by the unstoppable growth of the home carrier. ;)

Re: BRU Summer 2017: news, new routes, airlines

In this case my focus will be on... BROMMA ! No Airbus can land over there, it's the best airport city-wise and they are the sole player there except domestics... Oh, but the Airbus can land/take-off at BMA, it's rather a question of taxi way strength which is withholding us from sending it there a...

Re: Third daily SN flight to CDG

Indeed, I can confirm there are still 3 daily CDG flights operated in summer. (one of which operated by Airpost). The 2 flights by SN fly at the same time (or with a short interval): they must be seen as a single flight split. Rather than have those 2 flights loaded separately in the GDS, SN simply ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

On my next trip with Brussels Airlines the seat map goes till more than 60?!?! I thought it was till 46 in the 300???? In which case your next trip is scheduled on our latest A330-300, OO-SFX, which has retained its seat row numbering from its previous user Singapore Airlines for now, until the cab...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Already now you can see the difference: flying on an RJ is getting increasingly rare these days. Just want till autumn next year: all will be gone then and replaced by more than 30 BRU-based A32F. About their plans for 2018 and further, tolipanebas: do we have to read that as 'bigger planes' or 'mo...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Indeed, as soon as the remaining RJ fleet is rolled over in A32F (by the end of 2017), the replacement of our A330 fleet will start. Just as with the RJ to A32F upgrade, the opportunity will be used to redesign and expand our long haul network too. Expect another round of eyepopping expansion. ;)

April figures of SN show a steady recovery after the terror attacks

Never to shy to publish their operational figures also when they are not showing growth, Brussels Airlines issued their figures for April, the first full month after the terror attacks on Belgium and its hub Brussels Airport: https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/brussels-airlines/brussels-airlines-apr...

Re: BRU infrastructure: future

FWIW, ryanair are using terminal 1 in MAD; LH, AF,KL and SN are using terminal 2: it's not remotely the same infrastructure, although both are interconnected. Not remotely the same??? Exactly the same you mean: T123 are just different entry points to a common gate area A,B,C,D,E,F. T1, 2 and 3 have...

Terminals in Madrid

Terminal is even used by poor quality airlines like Ryanair, so then you can already imagine it's nothing to write home about. LH, AF, KLM and SN are using a terminal which has nothing to write home about, so they must be poor quality airlines, according to your logic.  FWIW, ryanair a...

Re: Repositioning of BRU operations to other airports after attacks

A small Easter gift for spotters in LGG:
Since YYZ is currently not operating, as from tomorrow an A330 will be deployed on our key medium haul routes to cope with very high volume and the lower than normal frequencies on those routes: tomorrow an A330 will be used on MAD.

Reopening Brussels Airport after the 22/03/2016 terror attacks

Meanwhile in the real world, many people are working very hard to get the airport operational again asap. In view of this, BAC has teamed up with SN and is planning to have an operational test run of the temporary check in facilities put in place over this weekend, tomorrow afternoon. If all goes we...

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!

BRU aims to reopen on Tuesday morning, initally only for SN.
SN, their longhauls and the feeder routes have absolute priority.
Others will have to wait longer.

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!

I'd strongly advice anybody affected by the reroutings through one of the regional airports to use the ground transport organized by Brussels Airlines: it's free (we're going the extra smile, remember?), it's convenient, it's straight to where you need to be and you will avoid parking problems or pa...

Re: Terror attacks: explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!

If the terminal is given back to BAC by the police, and provided there is no major structural damage (at first sight it doesn't seem so, apparently), BAC thinks it can quick fix and reopen part of it within 24 hours. If so, SN will be the first to move back (some of) their operations, probably the l...

Re: Terrorist attack, explosions in the departure hall of Brussels Airport!

It's far easier to simply operate long haul from a Lufthansa group hub than from a maintenance hangar: they have much more adequate facilities over there, the feed is going to run much more smoothly and 80% of our passengers don't need to be in BRU anyway and probably won't mind not passing through ...
