Re: Korongo Airlines
And here is the article they are referring to (in Dutch). It names Ethiopian Airways as a potential shareholder. As it is already two weeks old, hasn't it been mentioned here before? It was, mentioned on May 11th by sn26567 (though no link to the original article). However, if the decision would be...

Re: Amsterdam Schiphol to get US border control?
But now that the Gulfies are taking market share away from KLM, suddenly the Dutch government jumps in! Surprise? It's a request from the US governement. The Dutch government has decided to "investigate the effects" and has strong reservations on this idea (not only due to the cost involv...

Re: KLM considers non-stop flights to Manila
KLM considers flying Amsterdam-Manila non-stop. Currently Philippine Airlines only flies non-stop from London. Current KLM daily flights to Manila by Boeing 777 are one-stop (in Taipei, without fifth freedom rights). If economic conditions allow, Air France could later also consider non-stop flight...

Re: Amsterdam Schiphol to get US border control?
What's the hidden goal ? AMS would obviously favor having US pre-clearance as it is a good selling point. Look at Ireland and Aer Lingus, how they use it as a marketing tool. I doubt that AMS wants this. This seriously increases transfer times and that's something which will bea big problem for AMS...

Re: Take air, new ANR operation
I thought i was never going to happen. But on the airport website they are not announced in the departure and landing times. Although they are doing now scheduled flights so they should be considered as a fully-fledged 'airline', doing regular flights. The flights arrive and depart from the general...

Re: Jet Airways out of Brussels?
However, I never would want to sit for some 14 hours in economy class to fly from AUH to NYC or YYZ (or some 16 hours with Emirates from DXB to LAX). The airlines which offer this must be sadists and the pax who accept it must be masochists. If the price is right, then there will be enough people w...

Re: Jet Airways out of Brussels?
I'm not saying it it's going to happen soon, but Etihad is said to prefer an increase of services between North America and India via AUH instead of having a European hub for such operations. 9W is expanding significantly on routes from India to AUH. In combination with EY's North American operatio...

http://www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/36531-faa-returns-india-to-category-i-status Will this mean the end of 9W in Brussels, or at least their scissor hub? Why? It only means that 9W will be able to increase their flights to teh USA. 9W would have been able to remove the scissor hub when India was...

Re: 2015 Ostend-Bruges airport (OST/EBOS) latest news
by the way: why would it be wrong to use Ostend airport to transport weapons? Zeebrugge has been used as the major ammunition transit point between USA and Europe. So why not the nearest airport? I call this a non issue. It's about illegal arms trade not the legal arms trade. But is it really new ?...

Re: Trivia 2015 (miscellaneous news)
KLM will replace the F70 with 15 Embraer 175+ and 2 Embraer 190s. The ERJ 190s will be delivered in December of this year and the deliveries of the 15 ERJ 175+s will start in March 2016 and run until June 2018. Tis means the days of the F70s at BRU are numbered. http://news.klm.com/klm-purchases-sev...

Not only TG will reduce or axe flights to Europe and other parts in the world, also Malaysia will do it with cutting 10% of the offer. Amsterdam is not sure if they will see Malaysia back. You mean, if MH continues flying to AMS as they still fly to AMS. BTW going back to the original article I asu...

Once an airport is equipped to receive the A380, it can attract more of them. One mentioned AMS which built the A380 infrastructure to welcome Emirates. Re: TG: BRU not profitable, could be axed
BRU IMO is a test for them. BRU is a proeminent 2nd tier hub like mxp or fco, all three being under the axe scrutiny. ANd I say it's a major step back, network policy wise. 1st tier hubs could very well eventually be considered unprofitable as well. Yet there is a big difference between BRU and all...

I find a similar attitude at JL/NH in Japan, who are not leveraging their superior product offering and weak currency to offer connections to Southeast Asia, Oceania, and even North-east Asia that they offer with excellent frequencies. If you're flying to SE Asia, it's not such a good idea to use N...

Re: TG: BRU not profitable, could be axed
BRU-BKK is a route that has potential .. I know lots of people who wouldn't consider a stop in the gulf on a 12 hrs route. Too much hassle .. and fatigue plays a role. You can always make a stop in CDG, FRA, MUC, IST, LHR or AMS. The fact is that tehre is a lot of suuply between Eurpoe and Thailand...
