If one wants to find out which aircraft is better, look at the fleet of the airlines whose purchases of planes are less influenced by economical, political reasons. SIA, Cathay, Air France, KLM ...? In the case of China, and India who must make US and EU both happy, why they go for Boeing when they ...

Good news for Boeing. As small airlines cannot find capacities for such a huge A380 they would go for B747-8. Good to see 747 program go strong.

No surprising. After Airbus announced it will set up a final assembly line in China, China returns a favor by placing a big order. Airbus is happy now. But the battle between B777 and A340 to win order from Qantas seems a crucial one for Airbus. My bet is Qantas will go for Airbus since after loosin...

Thanks for the warm welcome! To be honest, I am quite skeptical about B747-8. I think Boeing have played their 747 card way too often. I remember years ago, Boeing announced B747-500 and 600 with all the technology from the B777s, but nothing like that ever flew. Now, this one, since it has been la...

Even Airbus admitted that they don't have any plane that can compete with B777LR. B777-200LR can fly with full load while A340-500/600 cannot. So there is definitely a market for B777LR.

Hi all! kinda new here! First off! Welcome to Luchtzak Some things to consider in answer to your questions: First: Cathay Pacific will not likely be ordering any A380,s I think they will probably be one of the first customers for the 747-8 due to economics. Second: Emirates will probably get rid of...

If Boeing doesn't offer the stretched version of B787 surely Emirates would go for A350. I would bet Emirate will go for A350. They have a lot of Airbus planes, and they like to go for larger size for profits.

When Boeing said the world didn't need large aircrafts it didn't mean the world didn't need one. What they meant was the world didn't need a lot of A380s. This is how I interpret saying of executives of large corps. They are more and more like politicians.

True SAI gets upset over A380 delay;but it doesn't mean they don't select A350 while Airbus claims A350 is better than B787. Who would not buy an airplane that is technological superior, fits better to their business goals just because its supplier failed to deliver products on time? Probably Boeing...

They just want something to compete with A350 so that they can negotiate prices with airbus. Let's say Boeing offered B787-10 which may make Airbus who desperately need a big order to boost A350 program to give even bigger discount to them. Always nice to have 2 or more suppliers right? This is what...

How are their prices in comparison to competitors? I would think pricing is as important as capacity to gain market share. I think both aircraft manufacturers and their customers never disclosed the prices. Recently Boeing put a lot of effort in streamlining B777 production to stay competitive in t...

The problem with composits is not that is is more brittle then aluminium, the problem is that with composit materials it is a lot more difficul to find the cracks. I'm not sure about the 787, the carbonfiber fusalage is scary. Composites crack inside when something knock them hard (I.E. Catering truck, jetway...) and this could waken the structure. if the plane de-presurises then it could be major like the THY DC-10 at Paris. You are right. This is the riskie...

Lucky for Airbus

Lucky for Airbus that Boeing launched B787 kind of late. If Boeing had launched B787 as early as A380, Airbus would have been in big trouble and there might not have been such thing as A350. In the game of catching up, Airbus seems to do very well with A350. Thanks to Boeing's innovations Airbus now...
