Re: 2016 Ostend-Bruges airport (OST/EBOS) latest news

China flights from EBOS? Its just on the drawing board but VLM has plans with ANR and OST. Mr Buelens said that plans with other airlines are much more concretely allthough nothing is expected before the summer of 2017. http://www.hln.be/regio/nieuws-uit-oostende/straks-vluchten-naar-china-a2929739/

According to this (http://trends.knack.be/economie/bedrijven/vlm-airlines-wil-vliegen-op-china/article-normal-764299.html) (Dutch) article, the 'new' VLM wants to fly to... China. They want to use OST as a hub. Maybe time for OST to build a new terminal? I don't think you'll find an uglier "te...

Re: 2016 Ostend-Bruges airport (OST/EBOS) latest news

Jetair/TUI is happy with the passengerfigures as they grow year by year. They are thinking of having a third aircraft based at the airport for the summer of 2017. More news hopefully in a few weeks. Just hope they get rid of the CELLO aviation 737 as this aircarft wasn't reliable over the whole seas...

Re: 2016 Ostend-Bruges airport (OST/EBOS) latest news

Thanks, OstAir, this fellow aviator was then in bad luck indeed. It's a pity (to say the least) that BelAir keep announcing availability till 22.00 even when this is not always practised. Belair also announced a 300.000 Euro refurbishment but has yet not applied for a planning permishion. Must say ...

Re: EBOS Ostend: Belair operating hours

On a pilot forum I came across a foreigner who had flown into Ostend and found the Belair restaurant closed, at 19:50 (local), yet its website claims open till 22:00, 7 days per week. Has this recently changed or was the chap just in bad luck? When there are no late departures then the Belair close...

Re: Jetairfly in 2016

In this case price doesn't reflect the demand !. It is a artificial high price that can be asked because market domination in OST. There is a big difference in average pricing compared between OST / BRU / CRL ) Agree with you. When TC had their own flights from OST prices were better. But TC didn't...

Re: 2016 Ostend-Bruges airport (OST/EBOS) latest news

I used the Nice route in May and there were 88 passengers onboard.
The return had 102 passengers onboard.
Not too bad but not as popular as the Alicante route.

Would be interesting to find the figures for the Ostend-Nice route.

Re: Ryanair in 2016

“ We are taking another 50 aircraft next year. Would we place any of those in the U.K.? It is highly unlikely ," said O'Leary. Good news for OST then as the lack of aircraft was the problem to start a line(s). Just joking  Would be nice to use this quote from MoL whenever he is back in...

Last Rome flight from OST this year will be on 27/10.
JAF/TUI has decided to scrap the route for the winter.
Its not sure that the route will return in the summer of 2017.

Barcelona is doing much better and will continue throughout the winter.

Re: Ryanair in 2016

Fish do seem to fly in other countries. Ryanair offers flights at BES, LRH,TLN, DOL and LRT just to name a few airports who have the sea at one side... Nothing offers more convenience than flying direct to your destination with a minimum of loss of time. Some fish are more exotic to others. However...

Re: Ryanair in 2016

I don't think the market is there.. otherwise it would have been done. Not necessarily. I once asked the question to Michael O'Leary at one of his press conferences. He said Ryanair is speaking with many airports which are not yet served, including OST. But at this moment, Ryanair doesn't have enou...

Re: Ryanair in 2016

I'm surprised that the flights to Glasgow International are only twice weekly. When Ryanair operated flights from Glasgow Prestwick to Brussels Charleroi the flights were daily. I flew that route many times and the flights were always completely full or with only two or three seats empty. I don't t...
