Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

If it was possible, don't you think it wouldn't be already the case in normal operation? It is possible, double crew flights happen on a regular basis when it's not "advisable" to stay local (think unsafe to stay due to political instability or even current covid conditions). Been there, ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Not temperature control, but temperature tracing. It allows tracking and tracing of containers and their temperature inside from the ground.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

When Liege has been selected as a WHO airport and it is full of cargo 747s? These are transports that need volume availability and might even need containers with temperature tracing capability, not really something a pax a330 can offer...

You need a payload-range diagram to discuss these things:

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

1) it's a rumo(u)r. 2) Leave packages are normal to be 1 year salary, sometimes up to 2 year salary. You don't just simply ask someone to leave "voluntary" without giving something in return. Standard practice, not related to aviation uniquely. Which is still financially more sound than ho...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Pretty lousy service then for people leasing on holiday with 0% guarantee of a return flight they probably paid for. If that is your strategy, it destroys your image. A couple of stranded pax in the press is all it takes, and nobody will even try to book a flight.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I have advised several guys who are now SN and Tuifly right seaters against taking this route. Explained the risk of not finding a job, losing the job and cyclical aspects. They didn't listen to me and took the risk. It's their problem now and their loans are probably still running as we speak. Nob...

Ikea would say it's a dutch shop, and that answer should tell you that your own "financial funding" conclusions don't really make sense either.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

If there is a cost to a restructuring, it's in the form of lost jobs and that cost is borne by the workforce. Restructurings are supposed to cut costs, not generate costs, so it's nonsensical. Restructuring costs money short term, they are (supposed to if done wisely) save a lot of money long term....

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I see nationalising SN as the last resort if everything else has failed. Obviously it's not ideal but if this is what it takes to save the home carrier of Zaventem, it has to be done. Period. Not a resort, and by far a solution. Merely a temporary sidestep, that in the longrun would end up in the s...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

This does not discount the fact that compared with other airlines this is a high wage. As a purser and ground manager at BA (mixed fleet) knowing 4 aircraft types, flying mostly long haul I earned about 500EUR more then that, just to put things into perspective. Like I said, my CCM colleagues were ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I don't see the point of the unions offering to reduce work time to part time. It's most likely most will be working parttime, parttime on unemployment until traffic recovers. Economic unemployment can go on for years. It's been done successfully in the past and offers advantages to the company. As...

We need more 'patriotism' in business and above all: more audacity. Unfortunately not. We are small, we need to be smart. But we aren't. We are not big in Africa. We rely on history and keep using our colonialism to preted we are big. At this point, even the Chinese might be bigger in Africa. Small...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

It's almost a requirement from the Dutch government as it wants a "healthy" business (or better it wants its money back including the interest). Dutch politicians (but also the government) mentioned that the KLM pilots should look at the pilots at LH and take a voluntary paycut. I wonder ...
