7 questions and answers about Maastricht Airlines (again in Dutch sorry). http://www.dichtbij.nl/maastricht/regio/artikel/2745563/-7-vragen-over-maastricht-airlinesen-de-antwoorden-.aspx I'm not going to translate what this local journalist writes because it's only stuff we know. Re: Three Ryanair "emergency" landings in Valencia on same d

A court in Amsterdam today ruled in favour of KRO (the Dutch tv), in a complaint by Ryanair. The Irish airline asked the court that KRO should give them all the records of the tv interviews, including the pre and after tapes, thus allowing Ryanair to identify the pilots who testified unrecognizable....

Re: Maastricht Airport in financial problems

Some 7 years ago, when Maastricht Airport was privatised, the Dutch government granted 48,2 mio Euro "investment subisidies" because the state had failed to invest in the airport in the years prior to the privatisation. The Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad now says that some 10 mio Euro fro...

Re: Maastricht Airlines 2013

Some news in Dutch: http://www.zakenreisnieuws.nl/nl-NL/artikel.cms/airlines/Wantrouwen_over_start_Maastricht_Airlines In brief: The Maastricht City Council isn't sure that Maastricht Airlines will start its operations. The City gave them a startup subsidy of 100.000 Euro, from which 60.000 has bee...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport

Don't patrenize people defending their rights. The rights of the strikers came in clear conflict with the right of then thousands of ordinary people (aka passengers). They have the right to travel. The right to get access to their own belongings. The right to get what they've paid for. This not abo...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport

Very interesting article (in Dutch): http://www.dewereldmorgen.be/artikels/2013/05/14/verschrikkelijke-flexibiliteit-op-luchthaven Do not even find it interesting at all. Very much one point of view and full of mistake. For me this is typical union propaganda. Unions do want to stick in the past. O...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day

We will probably never know who or what was at fault (and even if I get to know it, I won't post it anytime soon, out of respect for their insurance negotiations, etc...). Since yesterday evening, I know from first hand what and how has happened, what was the cause of the engine stall, etc. However...

Depend what your reference is for "old". TNT 733's, 734's and BAe 146's? VLM's F50's? If those are average, then Brussels Airlines A330's are young aircraft.

Re: Maastricht Airlines 2013

In the mean time, some (ex) employees start a legal battle, because a few of them were fired. This means that they did had some staff on the payroll?!?! Till now, I thaught that they had only one president/CEO (collecting the subsidies from the city council and the province) and one free lance juni...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport

Seems it’s difficult for some to empathise with what passengers go through. It’s not just “bad news”. At first, their flight is delayed by several hours. And then, they are told that their luggage is withhold as hostage in a social dispute that they are not involved with. So passengers indeed feel t...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport

There is not one single reason why loaders and their unions have the right to take innocent passengers as hostage in a social dispute like this one. There are enough of other possibilities to impress the company owners (even for those who think that employers are bastards). I wonder what all those w...

Allow me to copy/paste a reader's reaction on the online newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws about this strike: "Natuurlijk vergeten ze te zeggen dat op momenten dat het minder druk is, men gewoon in de refter zit tv te kijken tot er weer een oproep binnenkomt om een bak te laden of te lossen en dat j...

Re: Swissport industrial action at Brussels Airport

Well you have to see this situation the other way, high workload as in loading a B737-800 with 3 peoples is a high workload. One guy to put the bags on the belt and one guy to pass the luggage to the third guy placing the bags. I don't know if you ever did this but this can be very tiring if you ta...

Re: Maastricht Airport in financial problem

I rather fly from LGG than MST for instance. Not because it is closer to Leuven (where I live) but it's just a nice little airport which still has a lot to offer and for once is not limited by too much inhabitants around the airport. (In comparison to BRU and CRL) Indeed, there are far less inhabit...

On top of that, the Netherlands has to end the selective tax exemption that they've given to Maastricht Airport (and not to Schiphol):

Re: Interview with Ryan Air's longest serving pilot

We have a proverb in Dutch for people without arguments: "aanval is de beste verdediging" - to attack is the best defence. So stay on topic please: this topic is about firm statements by Ryanair's longest serving pilot, and he hasn't referred to Brussels Airlines and/or Jetairfly at all. I...

Re: SN to Africa - one cancellation per day

Contrary to what those working at/for LGG, CRL and/or FR here try to proof, Brussels Airlines is a professionally run airline with staff that knows that long term client satisfaction is their top priority. I am not working for them but I’ve done business with them in the past. Well, I am sure that ...
