Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Silence is the best now for the negotiations. Leaks to the press, fake or not fake, is only to make the pressure higher and lead to one party to make the decision faster. Indeed. The fact that both Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines remain silent, is ennoying some people. What an amazing day it was, F...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

It might be one of the mean tricks of CS, to let SN "die", replace it at BRU by EW and offer even lower wages and worse working conditions. SN workers might be tempted (CS knows that) to accept to work for EW rather than to be jobless. As regards the slots, I presume LH can transfer SN sl...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Some press reports today that LH has the intention to let SN fail as they don’t want to invest nor comply with the Belgian governments demands for state aid. And as requested by the forumist Saratoga ... what about African traffic rights? I do not think that a German company can so easily replace a...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Academics from several Belgian universities plead to completely nationalise Brussels Airlines ànd Brussels Airport. They state that aviation has to become a public sector. Interesting read! -- > https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2020/06/03/maak-van-de-luchtvaartsector-een-publieke-dienst/ Interesting re...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I'm quite surprised to read that cabin crew could get 2800 netto per month with mid-experience... Civil engineers get less than that when they start as juniors in large companies. I have heard this too. Starting First officers in FR earn this. Cabin crew at BA have about 800-900EUR less then that. ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

The tweet from Alexander De Croo is dangerous for Belgian aviation. Lufthansa doesn't know today how big the corona damage will be for themselves and for Brussels Airlines. So they cannot guarantuee anything. Actually, this mornings' meeting contradicts with De Croo's previous demand "no job l...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

In the mean time, IAG and Etihad are on the hunt to take Vienna from LH. Which proves that even in corona times business is going on and airlines are looking towards the future. Also puts the whole “no one else is interested in BRU”-story in the bin. https://www.aerotelegraph.com/en/iag-wants-to-nab...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Are we so proud that we will continue to put money in a bottomless pit? FWIW, the 'bottomless pit' is actually quite lucrative for the Belgian government! You forget that all those employees pay income tax but use a lot of government resources as well (social benefits, healthcare, infrastructure et...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

The government is playing it hard with LH.

They want a business plan for the period 2020-2025 with significant investments into SN and they want a vote on the board, or no money. Makes me a bit more confident our tax money wont be dumped in a bottomless pit

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Nice article from “de Tijd” about the corporate hypocrisy and the “we’re in this together” message they tried to portray. The meme “Now we’re in this together, but when I had to pay 53€ for my suitcase I was alone” is used as a starting point. Summary: the article is an opinion on how companies use ...

The crisis has taken another turn. Even mother Luftie is now fearing it won’t be able to pay its bills anymore in the next couple of weeks. It is talking about a couple of billion EUR of outstanding bills.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

No fair competition should be excluded from the market (if everything about CRL is fair competition, I have my personal doubts, but that's not a discussion I want to go into here). But with regards to your comment of 'better value for money' I do have something small to say - LCC's provide better v...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

It's a dead wrong conclusion since none of us is a shareholder of this company (and thus not affected by profits/losses), so the bottom line results of the past are totally irrelevant to us. Well, we will be soon if our tax money is poured into it first of all and secondly, not all governments arou...
