That's true that's why they should have a small part of the company a bit like with Brussels Airport.

About your argument about Lufthansa it's not applicable regarding the special circumstances.

Just to clarify, as your bold seems to suggest the Chines invested money in Norwegian, which is NOT the case.
Outstanding debts from leasing have been converted into shares to avoid bankruptcy, it’s not an investment.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

This is relatively good news, except of course for the people who'll have to leave: only 370 layoffs (310 in Belgium and 60 abroad). But how can a plan suddenly shrink from 1000 to 370? And this, without knowing the results of the negotiations between Lufthansa and the German and Belgian government...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Because in a plane there's a passenger list: if someone is infected, it's possible to trace who's at risk. Furthermore the risk is bigger as the period of contact was a couple of hours at least. In the airport, it's impossible to keep trace of who was there at the same time as the infected person. ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Yes, indeed, in the Sabena days there was an attempt to save on social contributions by trying to relocate to Luxembourg. That would have been a great help. That really shows that this problem is a serious one, one that has been going on for a long time. Unfortunately, 25 years later no government ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

On that part of BigJets' post, you have got a point. But I remember that in the last years of sabena's life, it was considered to delocate pilots to Luxembourg (to save on taxes and social contributions, I presume) That trick doesn’t work anymore, since 2012 social contributions have to be paid in ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t Air France have a special statute for it’s cockpit and cabin crew where the airline pays much less social contributions because they consider their crews not to be working on French territory? You couldn’t be more wrong! Social contributions in France are a lot h...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

So if you calculate, the cost of opportunity for the Belsian state for each employee of maybe around 4.000 euro /month .. or 50.000 eur / year. Now let's see the big picture. If 3.000 employees would be the new taregt size of the company.. and they would need for the next year maybe 1.000, next yea...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

It's rather a good thing that SN isn't integrated into the European Flight Academy. Unless, you want German-speaking pilots, as it's a requirement to enter the school. While SN asks to be fluent in one of the two main national languages, and asks you to learn the other language. They mostly take pi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Doesn't look too good, no? Or does it, because it also could mean that more passengers can fly from FRA, MUC and ZRH to the US and Africa via Brussels? Don’t look for things which aren’t there! The primary reason is synergy as LH and LX have night stops in BRU. If SN operates the first outbound and...

Why is the difference so big between a low cost has Ryanair making huge profits and other airlines? That's the question looks like Ryanair has the right business model for the future. let's not think that IAG is a white knight. Absolutely correct, there are no white knights, a consolidation of the European commercial aviation was overdue long before Covid19!
