Re: Breaking: BRU obtains US border preclearance station status
AMS is a completely different airport than BRU. KLM, Delta, AA and United has really lot of daily flights there. This you cannot compare with the not so many flights from BRU to the States Indeed, hence why it may work at BRU. The only drawback remains that if connecting times are higher, the conne...

Re: Breaking: BRU obtains US border preclearance station status
What is "less eficient banking of flights"? Thx At present normally (thus without COVID-19) Skyteam would have 3 banks (10:00 - 11:30, 13:00 - 14:00, 16:00 - 17:30) for US departures at AMS. The morning bank departs from 10:00 - 11:00. If the connection time increases for these flights, t...

Re: Breaking: BRU obtains US border preclearance station status
Since BRU is only one of the few Star Alliance airports to get US preclearence it might open up opportunities for UA to expand at BRU. Instead of opening the 'promised' second EWR flight from AMS (!), and starting from that same SkyTeam airport a seasonal SFO route. This was/is a slap in the face f...

Re: Boeing 737 (MAX) news
New twist in 737 MAX saga: American Airlines has threatened to cancel some of its orders for the troubled jet. Back in 2011, American's push for a new fuel-efficient narrow-body jet prompted Boeing to develop the MAX in the first place. American Airlines told Boeing it will not take delivery of 17 ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
What about coming back to SN. No comments on the decision of the General Assembly to approve the deal between Berlin and LH ? So far no reaction from the Belgian government. Why would the Belgian government comment? Though LH now has a package, we still don't know why Thiele changed his mind. Moreo...

Rescue package for KLM is approved by the Dutch government https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/air-france-klm-group/klm-royal-dutch-airlines/klm-secures-financing-of-eur-3-4-billion-to-weather-the-covid-19-crisis/ Moreover, according to some news outlets, KLM will communicate the restructuring (aka j...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
On top, they not only demand nationalization of Brussels Airlines, but also nationalization of Brussels Airport. How much taxpayers' money we're gonna need to get the remaining 75%? Brussels Airport Company nv/sa: own assets 809M of which 640M invested capital, turnover/revenu 593M, average yearly ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
Personally, it's not relevant to me what the background of those people is, nor am I interested in their point of view because in a few months, all airlines will be either bankrupt of nationalized, whether me, you and anyone else like it or not. You'll be surprised how many airlines will cope with ...

Re: Air Belgium in 2020
There were also Air Mauritius flights to AMS but if I remember well, they dropped it. So it is a good move to attract Duch and French people together with Belgians. Belgians has also property, hotels, there. Ex sabeniens KLM and Air Mauritius did indeed fly from AMS (KL in the Winter, Air Mauritius...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
In any case, there has to be a deal on MONDAY and not a day later. All these rumours about bankruptcy are deadly for the image of SN (or any company in this situation). No one is going to book a flight with an airline that 'seems' on the verge of bankruptcy. This uncertainty has to stop now . Nothi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
No need to be an aviation specialist to consider what is good for the economy of a country and the international trade asset of this country, better be an economist. For for the profitability of an airline, it's better to have aviation specialist. But in the case of the nationalization of an airpor...

Re: Lufthansa in 2020
At this very moment when all airlines have very reduced flight schedules and will probably not go back to "normal" until quiet some time, 24 slots and the flights which go with it are nothing for LH. It's the future, of course, which bothers them. Especially, if I understood correctly, th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
I've never understood the Luanda situation. Luanda seems to be a high yield, oil related destination, with up to 3 weekly rotations.Duke AFAIK Luanda was/is high yield, but also high costs. Not many crews stay overnight (KLM flew to LAD, remained on the ground for 10 -15 hours and the same crew fle...

Re: Lufthansa in 2020
Air France now experiences why Carsten Spohr (CEO Lufthansa) opposes political influence in airline management and operations. France guarantees a bank loan to Air France, but in exchange France demands that Air France realizes a 50% CO² cut on domestic flights by 2024. Example: France demands that...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
AMS is helping KL in a direct and indirect way, to both sides benefit and the benefit of the Dutch government and tax-paying people. Please explain. I haven't heard of any measure specically aimed at helping KLM. In fact, AMS is as quiet as BRU. The only measures taken are postponing the increase i...

Apparently the German government wants LH to keep its current orders with Airbus, as part of the 'rescue' deal. https://www.tijd.be/ondernemen/luchtvaart/berlijn-koppelt-redding-lufthansa-aan-orders-voor-airbus/10228647.html Now we see why you don't want to give politicians too much to say. maybe t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020
At least LH now can’t maintain that Belgium shouldn’t get shares in return as that’s what they agreed to in Germany. Think it will go fast now. Unless they don't need anything anymore from the Belgian government. If LH gets up to 9bn, then that's up to 2bn more than AF + KL needed combined. I doubt...
