Re: My first spotting trip

A bit further, but Madrid Barajas is also a must. It's 1h50 flight, but it can be cheap as well with RYR (and even IB has often has cheap fares of around 80 euros). Been there several times and the traffic is very nice and diverse. Manchester is attractive as well, but I would book then 1 night. The...

What's the reason of the ET visit, as it has already been in service for some months with ET? Any info on ETD?

Re: BRU 25R/07L in August 2013

Delays during these works happen frequently. In 2006 when they used for a time only 25R for both departures and landings, we were in the hold (flight AA88) for about half an hour before we were able to land due to traffic.

The fully released accident report is very interesting to read. Sad that all these people had to die because of the many mistakes the crew made: http://caa.ly/en/

Re: Which A330 next for Brussels Airlines?

I think in the end we'll see at least one A330 in Star Alliance c/s (one of my favourites in the world btw) as I think it's obliged to have xx aircraft of your fleet in the alliance colors, isn't it?

The UA you are showing here collided with another 777 at IAD when taxiing into gate C12 after its arrival. Nothing too serious, he only struck another wingtip.

Re: Antwerp Airport: longer runway?

Hi all, Clearing the dust from this topic, as I still have a (technical) question. So at the end of runway 11 (or beginning 29) they will construct a strip of 150m in total, consisting of the actual RESA of 90m which has to start according to ICAO 60m from the end of the runway (right?). Now, what a...

Re: KRO Sunday: hard interview O'Leary versus Sven Kockelman

Haven't seen it yet, but I can imagine it as the second part of the program was boring as hell. They didn't had to make 2 episodes of it, as they didn't have the material for it. One episode would have been fine, i.s.o. of all the continuous repetition of the emergencies. I'm not commenting on the c...

Re: Snow in BRU night 14-15/01/2013

Will the meteo forecasts be more accurate than last time ? They had cried wolf for not much actually. Let's wait and see ... They sold again the wolf story i'm affraid... That makes more advertising revenue for the press of course. As far as the meteo is concerned, the outcome was as expected. Fore...

Re: jumpseat brussels airlines

Luck is what you need. Always be kind and always ask! I once ended up on a jumpseat in the cockpit of an A340-600 of South African Airways from CPT to JNB (and I even didn't ask for it in fact, it was offered to me after a chat with the ramp agent as he knew I'm an aviation enthusiast). An amazing e...

Re: ATC conversation

Then it's the same as in the UK. I was once stopped at security screening in the new T5 at LHR in 2008. There was some sunscreen in my hand luggage I forgot to took out and they started searching my bag. They found my aerodrome charts of LHR, all the ATC frequencies, all my logs of air traffic of th...

Re: Ryanair extends booking fee to all passengers

But is this legal? I heard that the only reason they still allowed you to avoid the booking fee (although via a complex way for most people) was because according to EU laws you have to offer that possibility. Someone with more background on this?

Re: Farewell to AA at BRU on 06NOV12

Sad to see them go, really liked their c/s. Flew them 9 times in 2004 and 2006 from/to BRU. I really liked their service in that time, although I can't compare with recent years. Hopefully they'll come back in a couple of years.

Re: Spotting advice for a starter

At the moment I expect a 02/07R configuration for Sunday, so landings will be on 02 and takeoffs on 07R. With the guide Flanders gave you, that means: For arrivals, best spot is from sunrise till 1000 spot E on the map. Thereafter, it is advisable to go to 07R as it's then busy with departing aircra...
