Question on US Airways: Brussels to the US

I'd like to go to New York in February, cheapest flights I've found are US Airways (BRU-PHL-LGA). Flights are operated by 757-200. I've never flown this airline and know very little about them. * Has anybody flown US Airways? Are they any good/tolerable? * Entertainment - I guess there are no PTVs. ...

Re: Wizzair CRL-SOF-CRL

Thanks for interesting report (especially yout return trip  but it appears that WizzAir handled the problem in a very professional way. I wonder what would have been Ryanair's reaction in a similar situation). What was the load factor on both flights? @ petarn: what was the purpose of your...

Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines

They are going to codeshare indeed on this route. In my opinion, the route Brussels Airlines offered was not attractive. Adria will offer three flights a day: morning, late afternoon and evening. They will cover well this route with a small aircraft. I expect BRU-LJU was useful when Slovenia held t...

Re: The future of Brussels Airlines with Lufthansa

For a long time I've always felt that Star Alliance is about global reach and quantity. I do agree with this part of you sentence Summersso ! To my feeling the fast expansion of *A (and of LH inside *A in particular) might soon compromise its general image and quality. They indeed hurry to cover th...

Re: The future of Brussels Airlines with Lufthansa

I do hope so, because internal rumour has it that they want to keep their stupid Flex/Light formula... I hope that LH will send somebody rather sooner then later to take control of the inflight product and commercial departement. Apparently there will be a BD press briefing on 14 October regarding ...

Re: The future of Brussels Airlines with Lufthansa

... and adapt the fleet to Star Alliance standards, i.e. a full-fledged business class and a decent economy service. This could indeed take more than one year. Is there a common Star Alliance standard? I don't think so. Compare BMI or SAS with their pay-for-drinks in Economy class policy with Swiss...

Re: The future of Brussels Airlines with Lufthansa

Sabena might have been great back in the 1980's guys, but we've moved on. Belgium should look the future and seek to build a new, successful brand. Although I realise the situation in Switzerland is different, Swiss have managed to build a quality brand from the ashes of Swissair - this should be t...

Re: The future of Brussels Airlines with Lufthansa

The brand name is stronger than the original signification. But the brand name is tainted with "failed airline", "poor service". Sabena might have been great back in the 1980's guys, but we've moved on. Belgium should look the future and seek to build a new, successful brand. Al...

Re: Greece's Olympic Airlines cuts flights to save money

The passing of OA would not have such a dramatic impact on the connectivity of Greece than the passing of AZ would have on Italy's national interest. A vacuum in Greece would quickly be filled by existing local players and by additional capacity sent in from the region, while a vacuum in Italy woul...

Re: Lufthansa targeting Brussels Airlines

The press releases give no indication of a timescale. When might we expect SN to join Star Alliance? Six months, a year, or longer? Will the Privilege scheme be replaced by Miles and More? Does anyone know if Lufthansa intend to review the current blight/bflex offering and bring it into line with th...

Re: Aeroflot B735 flight SU821 crash

The big difference is that the Russian planes were adopted to the local situation, and the imported Boeings and Airbusses not. What do you exactly mean by that? Good question. I'd like to hear an explanation too! At first I thought you may be referring to the weather, but A+B aircraft operate in ex...

Re: Lufthansa targeting Brussels Airlines

I don't think that BRU needs Open Skies or anymore carriers flying to the U.S. The demand is just not there. Most airlines are using their smaller planes transatlantic to BRU. Hmm... I appreciate your point and you're probably right. No, het isn't. Not even close... Good to know. I'm just a regular...

Re: Lufthansa targetting Brussels Airlines

Personally, I'd rather SN link up with British Airways than Lufthansa. With LH it seems to me that SN will be marginalised as a small regional (European) carrier with the key being regular shuttle flights. Comparable to say, Lufthansa Cityline or Eurowings. My gut feeling is BA may have more ambitio...
