Re: [Discussion] no direct flights anymore between Brussels and Miami

Mia was for many years in the pipeline of AA with their B757. They requested many slots for it but never used it. Orlando was a much better destination as many Flemish people bought a villa there after the financial crisis in 2008. Tui was offering those flights and for the cruises. But those destin...

Exactly Ansett. Potential high yield and there's demand for sure. But if SN f.e. would be able to do, why didn't they do it yet?
Bcs you need a plane for that and they don't have spare planes for long haul. Everything is flying for almost 100%.

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Front Park 2 will be demolished in the future. It will be replaced by new offices and Congress. There will be new remote car parks on the Southern zone which will be directly served with the airport shuttle. It's a pity to see offices (which do absolutely not need to be close to the terminal) take ...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Ok, let me explain. As you probably knows, BAC bought the Sheraton in front of the airport some time ago. Real Estate is a big part of the airports portfolio. Two major reasons for this: the hotel has most of the time full capacity, sold out and second, when you are owner of it, you can do with it ...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Times are now also confirmed. Flight from YUL will come in at 08.40 at BRU. The outbound flight will be in the afternoon at 15 o'clock. Air Canada will use for YUL and YYZ the B787-8. This means less seats than when they flew with the A330 but an overall increase in seats as Air Canada is adding a s...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

SN is announced to lauch a seasonal flight to YUL during the summer season 2020, AC could be continuing to fly year round, following the high demand ? You could see it also as SN will be the replacement of Air Transat. Air Transat is also flying seasonal but we don't know for the moment if they wil...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Smart move to put each airline (AC & SN) in it's more natural market. Wonder how much capacity and mix of carriers (AC, SN, TS) there will eventually be. Seeing the move by SN to make IAD year-round and what I could read on this forum I would expect UA to perhaps swap IAD with IAH or run both in th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Those were one of the new announcements which we hoped for that they would do before the Winter schedule. See topic BRU: Star, Oneworld and Skyteam under one roof where I noted a few weeks ago that some new routes would be announced. So this is the first one, or two if you see them separately. Now ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

According to my sources, Air Canada will take over Toronto AND will stay flying to Montreal but with a lower frequency. According to my GDS, YUL by AC will be daily still. AC833 departing 15:00, arriving 16:25. But possibly they are going to downgrade that frequency still. But the timing is totally...

Re: BRU Summer 2020: news, new routes, airlines

Regarding leisure flights, as far as I remember they have an agreement with Thomas Cook as SN is not selling leisure flights on their own. So SN is receiving a fixed price. Correct me in this if I'm wrong But, Leisure flights should be the minor part, even not 50%. Business is the main purpose. Even...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

What was a big surprise to me, when I was reading the latest press release of SN regarding Reboot, is that SN has to pay by itself for the renewing of the future fleet. We really would like to know where LH is placing SN. When LH is buying new planes, they buy it for the whole group. Not all the tim...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

It would be good if member Delta Whiskey could give us some reasons why there are so much cancellations for the moment.
The elder planes are phasing out and more recent ones are coming in after technical check.

So what is the reason that daily a few LH planes are out?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

We clearly have a different option, nice to have a civilised discussions with you though! Time will tell, but I think consolidation is the way to go, concentrate on what is viable and try to grow again, slowly, once the recession has past. Economists are not good at predicting, indeed, but there are...
