I have given up the hope that each of the regions in our country is held responsible for their deficits

Funny that quote, Limburg has one of the highest deficits in Belgium, why should they not be held responsible then for their deficits?

Re: Impact of the coronavirus crisis on aviation

Brussels Airlines doesn't fully refund booked tickets to Spain, not even Flex tickets. I havea Flex ticket Brussels-Malaga r/t from September 8 till September 12. When I don't fly, it is considered a voluntary annulation, and it will still cost me € 140,00, because technically the fligth is still o...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

A refund with tax money is quite ironic seeing that we've all collectively paid for it  Mr Decroo was quite clear in parliament: SN was in negative equity, in other words: virtually bankrupt. It’s the refusal to refund bookings which kept them alive till today and as such it’s only normal tha...

Noteworthy to me is the additional commitment of €100M by Lufthansa, which is IMHO a meaningful sign they indeed do not intend to let go of Brussels Airlines any time soon. ... ...(depending the interest rate, of which I haven't seen anything BTW)... Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I still don't know why it took so long for the Belgian government to finalize the agreement with Lufthansa. What is on paper now, is what Lufthansa agreed long time ago: "an agreement in line with the agreements in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. An agreement that is good for both parties". De Cr...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Well, was Virgin Express not a low cost carrier? The DNA of Brussels was never the one of a full service airline. So we have two positions that are not compatible. The problem is two-fold and well stated in the above two posts: The “hybrid formula” has never worked. SN was too expensive for the rea...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

" ... it will postpone the extension of its flight schedule in August, due to its worsening financial situation ." Why cancel the flights if you have passengers paying for it? Say 3 (additional) A330s, flying each 5x2 flights in one week = 30 segments. 7000 Pax : 30 = 233 Pax/flight. Not a bad load...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

Silence is the best now for the negotiations. Leaks to the press, fake or not fake, is only to make the pressure higher and lead to one party to make the decision faster. Indeed. The fact that both Lufthansa and Brussels Airlines remain silent, is ennoying some people. What an amazing day it was, F...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

It might be one of the mean tricks of CS, to let SN "die", replace it at BRU by EW and offer even lower wages and worse working conditions. SN workers might be tempted (CS knows that) to accept to work for EW rather than to be jobless. As regards the slots, I presume LH can transfer SN slots to EW....

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I'm quite surprised to read that cabin crew could get 2800 netto per month with mid-experience... Civil engineers get less than that when they start as juniors in large companies. I have heard this too. Starting First officers in FR earn this. Cabin crew at BA have about 800-900EUR less then that. ...
