Re: Lufthansa in 2020

At this very moment when all airlines have very reduced flight schedules and will probably not go back to "normal" until quiet some time, 24 slots and the flights which go with it are nothing for LH. It's the future, of course, which bothers them. Especially, if I understood correctly, th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I've never understood the Luanda situation. Luanda seems to be a high yield, oil related destination, with up to 3 weekly rotations.Duke AFAIK Luanda was/is high yield, but also high costs. Not many crews stay overnight (KLM flew to LAD, remained on the ground for 10 -15 hours and the same crew fle...

Re: Lufthansa in 2020

Air France now experiences why Carsten Spohr (CEO Lufthansa) opposes political influence in airline management and operations. France guarantees a bank loan to Air France, but in exchange France demands that Air France realizes a 50% CO² cut on domestic flights by 2024. Example: France demands that...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

AMS is helping KL in a direct and indirect way, to both sides benefit and the benefit of the Dutch government and tax-paying people. Please explain. I haven't heard of any measure specically aimed at helping KLM. In fact, AMS is as quiet as BRU. The only measures taken are postponing the increase i...

Re: Lufthansa in 2020

Apparently the German government wants LH to keep its current orders with Airbus, as part of the 'rescue' deal. https://www.tijd.be/ondernemen/luchtvaart/berlijn-koppelt-redding-lufthansa-aan-orders-voor-airbus/10228647.html Now we see why you don't want to give politicians too much to say. maybe t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

At least LH now can’t maintain that Belgium shouldn’t get shares in return as that’s what they agreed to in Germany. Think it will go fast now. Unless they don't need anything anymore from the Belgian government. If LH gets up to 9bn, then that's up to 2bn more than AF + KL needed combined. I doubt...

If anyone understands, please let us know
Maybe a sudden influx of Chinese airlines at AMS may have something to do with it, or EK substituting its passenger aircraft for cargo aircraft at AMS (now 26 cargo flights a week)

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

I'm sure Lufthansa is aware of this also KLM is partly state owned Brussels Airlines is 100% a private company. KLM is 100% owned by Air France - KLM SA, in which both the French and the Dutch state have a stake (both around 14%). I'm not sure that Germany would be happy to be used to save a foreig...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

SN must become a network airline, like the other cousins... Brussels Airlines is part of the Network Airlines (at least reporting wise) as of January 1st and no longer belongs to the Eurowings segment. But why the hell this little line between the ones on the left, and the ones on the right ? Maybe...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

For those who wander why SN cannot achieve what LX can, the answer is, imho, that there was no willingness from LH/CS. And the Swiss government did all it could to prevent LCCs to fly to ZRH, which is possible for Switzerland since it not a member of the EU or even the EEA. ZRH is a much higher yie...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

This is why to me short flight should be replaced by train service directly from BRU but being sold as a flight like Air France is doing for Brussels. So a passenger book the entire trip via the booking system but instead of an A320, you get a train. It doesn't make any thing about the pricing as t...

Germany is indeed considered Central Europe for these awards. BRU competed against Dutch, British, Irish and French airports. Aha ! That's like awarding the best cars in Europe without Porsche, Audi & BMW... It's an award for "Best Airports in Western Europe 2020". ZRH and ZRH ...

Compensation can come in different forms, it doesn’t have to be cash by the way. I know that: in the case of Ryanair, it comes in the form of a serious discount on future deliveries. And since today, as an exclusivity on future deliveries (as there will no longer be Airbus deliveries to Lauda). Rya...

AF/KL would welcome your thoughts. They would be greateful if they can have the whole area from The Netherlands till France for themselves.

I agree with most of the points, conditions, the Belgian government is asking from LH. But regarding lay offs, I think they have to be realistic in this. It will happen. Also KLM is going to cut in employees after huge loses. It's almost a requirement from the Dutch government as it wants a "h...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

First of all, I don't think you should play bluff with CS/LH but you shouldn't give them SN for free without some guarantees for the future - that can include more European and longhaul destinations. One must be glad if many of the destinations are kept. Loans aren't free money either (at least not...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2020

LH's supreme interest in SN was not SN itself but the fact of being able to control the non-presence of other operators at BRU You can better say, LH needed to ensure that AF/KL didn't get control over Africa and BeNeLux or IAG getting too close to LH Group's main market (Germany). This is still tr...
