Re: Turkish airlines a320 business class domestic

Maybe it's best to start with only a handful of destinations to sort out the teething issues before making the big leap of moving all operations... Do you imagine the headache for people connecting at Istanbul? IST? ISL? They have tried the new airport with a few domestic destinations, now it is ti...

Re: Crashes and serious incidents/accidents in 2018

The Aviation Safety Network today released the 2018 airliner accident statistics showing a total of 15 fatal airliner accidents, resulting in 556 fatalities. When including military transport aircraft the total number fatalities would be 917 in 25 fatal accidents. So 361 fatalities in 10 military a...

Re: 2018 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

"It has been proven that ANR is not really a place for scheduled flighs cause the routes are always cancelled after a while. " TUI seems to be successful, even though they're changing their destinations regularly. And remember the ANR-LCY route has been very successful for a long time: don't confuse...

Re: 2018 Antwerp Airport (ANR/EBAW) latest news

The paid parking certainly has kept me away! Then again, I am not an airline passenger anyway so perhaps I am not a factor of loss... The reduction of service at BelAir is bad too, but quite understandable. They are not a charity, after all. I'm not too familiar with the surroundings, but isn't the...

Why Ras al Khaimah, and not one of the "normal" UAE-airports, like DXB or AUH?

Re: 25-31/10/2018 Aviapartner strike at Brussels Airport

What about the airlines that usually use Aviapartner but aren't cancelling their flights? Are they using hand luggage only? I see ANA is one of the airlines handled by Aviapartner, but I can't imagine travelling to Japan with hand luggage only...

Re: TUI fly Belgium in 2018

On tuesday, OO-TEA flew (OST-)ANR-NUE-ANR(-OST), probably for a charter, but that made OO-TEA occupied for the day. Could they do that without impact on other flights as it is a lower season? Or where there cancelled flights?

Re: Useless Belgian airports

The first Thalys arrives at 10:24 at Schiphol, but there are earlier trains: IC-trains, arriving as early as 8:21 And for example Stavanger: there's no service there form CDG, FRA, MUC,... it's a real small market, and you might be rather lucky to get there rather easily through AMS. Isn't Bristol s...

Re: A further deterioration of the Brussels Airport website

IPV4 vs. IPV6 is a communications/internet protocol, Mr (haha) geek. Nothing to do with the content of the website. And that is the subject matter of this thread. And (if we may go off-topic) what do you mean by "CDN"? Using codes and acronyms may make you seem a geek to some - others prefer simple...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Coach/bus will be less expensive on every transfer, from 1 km to 1000km. Still many people prefer plane/train/car. Why? 1-1000km is quite a range, but: * plane for speed (near the 1000km mark) * car for flexibility * train over coach/bus? I'm not sure about that: mostly because of specific routing ...

Re: Can Belgian airlines be successful ?

It's already a rather small market, and with EIN, DUS,... close enough to nibble some more off of that market. Furthermore: Belgium is too small for regional/national traffic, all flights are to other countries so you have to compete with foreign airlines, and when you're competing on routes to coun...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

The airport has the same problems as traffic in general: it's a risk planning to get there by car because you might be stuck in traffic, it's a risk getting there by train because there might be cancellations, strikes or other delays. The reason why one would still prefer the car is because it gives...

But we all know LH never had any plans for SN accept killing off any competition in its own backyard before it even was there. Imagine if SN would have ended up in Oneworld, the alliance it leaned heavily towards and possibly drawn 9W in it with them, making BRU a pretty big hub at a small distance...

Re: VLM (SHS Antwerp Aviation) news 2018

My vote goes to TUI for the ANR-LCY route... Weekdays + Sat leave ANR at 0700 and LCY at 0800 Weekdays + Sun leave ANR at 1900 and LCY at 2000 Having a jet on the route with a schedule that fits business people in both directions and they would do well! On such short routes, the difference between ...
