Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

It would be strange that SN's performance would be bad if we look at the numbers provided to us each month. SN was month after month one of the best performers of the group yet the results would be bad??? When young Sean, several times, explained that growth has to be sustainable, he was shot down ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

I dislike the fact that LH has never been honest and given their real plan with SN... however I dislike even more than whoever agreed to the decision to sell SN to LH didn't stipulate that SN was to remain SN and in BRU... I mean seriously... did the baker and butcher make up this agreement? I know...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Not sure, recently C Spohr urged Gustin to spend more time improving his figures iso on his bicycle in Africa. A rumour in a press article is not a fact. Correct statement should be: "some newspapers report that rumours are that Spohr said to Gustin that he should spend more time..." Source with "r...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

If Gustin is fired, they can use him as a CEO. He built Sn to what it is now In the the ten years of Gustin’s reign SN has continuously been on the edge of bankruptcy, his own words just before the LH takeover: “we are in survival mode”. It is LH which saved SN, not Gustin. Times have changed, the ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Once again Belgians let Lufthansa do what the company wants with their legacy carrier... As said many times before, LH saved SN from bankruptcy. Without LH there would be no SN today. If LH wants to transform SN today, it’s because the figures are probably not very good. There has been a modest pro...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

It seems to me that we are, however, so cautious with aviation safety. Lately another company was removed a right of exploitation for having used, during a take-off, the entire runway before flight. In Colombia, if I remember. Here one can leave from an airport with a runway too short. I'm surprise...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

BRU/BAC is just following legislation. They have to treat all airlines equally in terms of pricing per type of passenger (dep, arr, transfer, transit) and other operational charges. They can only differentiate by giving incentives and they are monitored on that by the involved authorities. The full...

Higher thrust on take-off means a “shorter life” for the engines hence an extension of the runway is vital
Correct, but higher thrust on TO means less fuel consumption.

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

The project is doomed and dead-born. CX opens BRU in a few weeks time (and I hope it'll be a more successful operation than the DUS one) with an A350 and superb on-board product. Not to mention HU with the SZX flight out of BRU. They have no feeder, no alliance, no interline, no local corporate or ...

or they plan to have half empty flights (necessary to take off from CRL short runway anyway)
On 12+ hrs flight the cost of a fuel stop is offset by the fuel saving.

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

A very good idea JP, but there is probably a traffic right problem with your solution.
An ACMI agreement with SN should work though! At the same time this solution would prove there are no “politics” involved in the delayed AOC.

The biggest part of the money made from these lines will go to EW, should be better for SN to start some destinations at BRU.
But the profit on the EW contract is guaranteed and without any risk.
Opening new routes do require a big investment and could generate a big loss.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

EW should be thankful that SN is willing to help them, otherwise they couldn't fill the gap at DUS. Why???? EW could have secured ACMI services with a dozen other operators. The A340s are comming from the LH group and the crews are new recruits. SN should be grateful that EW give them the oportunit...

Re: Eurowings in 2018

I guess we can thank those who agreed to sell SN to LH for peanuts... The folks at SN have been working so hard to make money, carry more pax etc... and its all going to LH/EW. Those who agreed to this deal have not learned from the past and don't know enough about aviation to run a Belgian airline...

Re: BRU infrastructure: future

Just wondering if it wouldn’t be better and safer to get rid of them and separate departing from arriving passengers. If one day panic breaks out during peak time, the designers of the connector will have a lot of blood on their hands! I am sure all necessary measures have been taken to a avoid sit...

Re: Eurowings in 2018

I feel some embarrassment in the communication of Eurowings in social media. They want to keep a German identity at Dusseldorf, however, they don't know how to tell that their two A340 aircraft and one of the A330s will be operated by a "foreign" airline. And thus they use a toned-down language. Ev...

Re: Airbus A380 news

EK lost much of their credit in Toulouse when they cancelled the A350 order a few years back. Opting in 2017 for the B787 (instead of the A350) put on definite hold any possible or costly development of the A380 EK would wish for. Without EK the A380 would have been history years ago. Whilst the A3...
