Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Those seem like the tails of short haul planes. SN still has the long haul center of excellence!

since in my idea BRU would mainly serve a function as reliever hub to LHR, thus having smooth connections extra shengen.
Problem is IAG purchased Aer Lingus for this purpose.

Re: Lufthansa in 2019

Nobody knows. Lufthansa Group says that the allocation of the new aircraft among its airlines will be decided later. As well as the seat configuration (although I fear a 9-across seating in the Economy class of the 787). The rendering in the article says it all… Indeed... we only see LH, LX and OS....

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

The former bmi (and Cityjet) flights from Brussels to Hannover are not taken over. They are suspended for the whole summer season (and maybe even longer). All profit for Lufthansa: the SN pax are now routed through FRA and MUC. Not all profit, AF and KL are realistic alternatives. And that’s only g...

The Netherlands buy a 12.8% share in Air France-KLM Group

The Dutch government bought a share of AFKL for E 700,- million and suddenly there is renewed interest in the fate of Sabana, according to De Volksrant the horror scenario of Belgium and Sabena is the main reason for the investment. AFKL CEO Ben Smith and The Dutch minister referred to Sabena as wel...

Re: National strike in Belgium on 13 February 2019

^^ Fair points. Let me rephrase: if people working in the Belgian aviation sector see the upside of having a succesfull national carrier they shouldn’t go on strike for vague reasons that have nothing to do with their employer.

Re: National strike in Belgium on 13 February 2019

Pro tip for SN staff: if you want to become a successful ‘national’ airline despite LH’s efforts to turn you into a low cost franchise you don’t go on strike for vague reasons! :|

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

I agree. CS will only allow SN to fly long haul to Western and Central Africa and will want us to fly thru FRA, MUC, or Zurich to, for instance, fly to North America (but not me). You forget about the transatlantic JV LH has with UA. If a passenger flies on UA from BRU they make the same amount of ...

Re: Brussels Airport monthly traffic figures

AMS AND LHR are full. Both can only grow in number of pax by changing into bigger planes but not everybody is doing this. Yet the movements at BRU declined last year with important competitors having no capacity. That’s disappointing, especially becausing this situation will only last a limited tim...

But they also go on strike. My English isn’t good enough to know if a 1 hour work stoppage falls under the meaning of strike, but at least in Dutch there are different words for it (staking vs werkonderbreking). Doesn’t really matter anyway, what matters is that our neighbors have a way to solve la...

No internal competition between trade unions: FNV rules (FNV = Federation of Dutch Trade Unions). Ahum ... 29 January 2018...

I think that this site might not be powerful enough to reverse the situation. It should at least go up to Count Davignon to get something moving. I wouldn't count on him. Every major Beglian company he was involved in (and there are a lot) was sold to a foreign company or even went bankrupt (Fortis...

There are renovations going on in the building adjacent to the B.House. Does anyone know what is going on there? And what will be the new purpose of this building?
Maybe SN is renovating the building to establish the new long haul center of excellence? :ugeek:
