Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

DWJ made is last revenue flight last week.

And another thing I noticed, though slightly off topic here, is that on the A32F aircraft that have been repainted this year so far, the registrations are painted in a different letter font... Don't know why, liked the old font better...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

I have no doubt that titles will be added. But I find it strange it wasn't done straight away during the paintslot. Now it will have to revisit the paintshop. At least, if it is to be done with some quality... Normally, if the titles are not to be shown yet, for one reason or another, they are paint...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Is it impossible for SN to change completely to Boeing if they receive a good deal with them? Even the A320 fleet is not so young so if Boeing give a good deal and SN change completely to Boeing is it crazy? Nothing is impossible... But it means a HUGE investment... One that far outweighs the benef...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

So IAG is another wetlease customer of theirs then? Interesting indeed. ;) It seems lke Cityjet is quickly building a business model on providing network airlines with an affordable solution to operate (new or additional) flights which are too thinly booked to fly their bigger mainline airplanes on...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

To me it doesn't make sense. After all the effort they put into reducing the costs, by going to as few as practical a/c types, it would be unlogical to let the cost go up again by unharmonizing the fleet. Won't happen.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

A340... Forget about it... won't happen. As for the A350, I also don't think it will happen, but I like to add that although for the flight crew it is a common type to the rest of the Airbus fleet, and requires minimum conversion, for maintenance personnel the opposite is true. It requires extra tra...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Yes, that's it. It is a changed Airbus requirement which was implemented. Though only top surface is mandatory, bottom surface was included in the change. Exept tot the 3 logo jets, they only have a light grey top surface. SSC was white/grey anyway.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Repainted with an additional "Lufthansa Group" title at the back of the fuselage (like the repainted OS aircraft) :?: Nah... There was an alteration in the livery that started when the TCQ was introduced. Every A/C (A32F only) (re)painted since has gotten the new livery. Exept of coarse SNA, SNB, S...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

I always thought it was the amount of cycles that was important, not so much the time spent in the air? I am no mechanic, but i expect It is the 'one of both comes first' rule that counts. With short hops it is about the cycles, with long distances it's about the number of hours flown. I can well i...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Regarding when they retire they still needs to be current on maintenance, it's not only required by regulations it's most likely a contractual obligation issued by the lessee of the plane. ;) The first part of this statement is deffinately true. Maintenance will have to be up to date until and incl...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

if I remember correctly, SFX was delivered sooner than originally planned to facilitate the Toronto ops. Due to this, there was not enough time to obtain and install the SN interior. This upgrade was to be done after the summer season. If my info is correct, it will be done in november. It is true t...

Re: Emirates 777-300 crash-landing at DXB

After being off-line for a couple of weeks, I only learned that there has been a crash last weekend. I am happy everybody made it of the aircraft safe in time. Though my thoughts go out to the firefighter family and friends. Sifting through the sense an the non-sense in this topic, I did not read al...
