Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2019

So it's bad management. Or maybe BAC shouldn't be so cheap. Many years ago, I worked for a subcontractor and every 5 or so years the contract had to be renewed. Each time BAC asked more for less money. As allways: when a company makes a profit, it's thanks to the employees. When they make a loss, i...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

One of the first things they need to do is to integrate fully SN flights in the LH booking system. Example: I want to book a triangle: BRU-GVA-VIE-BRU if I try to book this on any of the three actual "network airlines" websites, the leg BRU-GVA that is operated by SN directly, isn't suggested at al...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Sobelair was the last one using a 767-300er till 2003, but that was really unprofitable because of the fact the 767 couldnt be fully loaded. ( I remember this very well, the last few rows were empty because of this ) The range is there, but JNB is a 'hot and high' airport. ( this is the reason why ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

First newer airplanes who are more fuel efficient. It is not makes sence for trying to be profitable when you are flying with old birds. New destinations can be later but then first into Africa to take some % back from AF/KLM - Turkish Airlines, etc. New destinations in The States as feeder to Afri...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Well, I have been beating the wrong (EW) drum quite a lot and quite loud lately.... I didn’t see this one coming, my analyses have been embarrassingly wrong! The only thing I got correct is that cutting costs is a necessary and urgent matter. All the euphoric comments on here are a bit premature th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Maybe we can start dreaming about A330-neo's? And A220's for the European routes, to replace the older A319's? Let's keep fingers crossed! Those aren’t available second hand. LH didn’t retract that only profitable airlines receive new equipment. That applies to ‘network airlines’ as well. OS gettin...

Re: Eurowings in 2019

Little as I know about commercial air transport, didn't I always understand that the LH group kept EW up mainly for keeping the low-costers out of Germany? Even if it generates little (if any) profit? Would Mr. De Wilde be so privileged as to know first-hand of such a radical change of policy? Mayb...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

LUFTHANSA announces a re-orientation of Brussels Airlines: closer alignment with Network Airlines; integration into Eurowings will not be further pursued. The best news ever. :D Not to be the party-pooper that brings rain on this sunny day, but... What if "Brussels Airlines" will indeed remain for ...

Re: Anomalies in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2019

If the flight would have had an EW codeshare your remark would have been justified,... I did have the impression I had read a post here (I don't remember on which thread) stating that the US was now limiting sub-contracting (and/or codesharing?) flights to the US, even for companies belonging to a ...

Good to have an expert (or insider?) on board! Thanks Poiu. The real insiders are gone here. Sick and tired of all the crap and all the nonsense that is posted about SN and/or LH and/or EW in almost every topic here. Luckily the official gospel is there to bring the lost souls back to the right tra...

Re: Eurowings in 2019

Btw, it is interesting to note that SN has been allowed to rent several aircraft (from LH) in order to have this ACMI contract with EW for these DUS flights that don't seem too successful, but isn't allowed to add one single long-haul aircraft for its own operations. That one has been explained bef...

Re: Eurowings in 2019

don’t forget that the EW long haul by SN is a form of money transfer from one unit to another within the same company. If that transfer r stops the results in Brussels will be worse. Do you have evidence of that? Are these DUS flights profitable? The profitability of the flights is not relevant! Ew...

FWIW, that gives them a market share at their home market of close to 41% . That completes this month's number crunching then, at least on the operational side, unless somebody manages to dig up their market share figure for May 2018 to compare against the figure for this year? ;) May 2018 was a ra...

It is becoming urgent that the performance of SN, isolated from that of EW, be well identified. Kristina Foerster's role and duty as CEO is to defend her own airline within the LH group.
