Re: Getting that first flying job...

Thanks guys. Of course, I already knew the schools were being kind of optimistic. I didn't think it was that bad however. After all this, I'm still determined to get my license, even if I don't ever see the inside of a 737. But, and I already said this a while back, mostly to myself, I'll make sure ...

Re: BRU 28/11/2010

According to ATIS (and Grimbergen radio): this morning, calibration flights at EBBR rwy 25R. What aircraft? They were performing calibrations on 20 yesterday and this morning too, F-HCEV has been passing over my house for two days now. Still wondering, what does the calibration procedure actually c...

Re: Qantas grounds A380 fleet after incident over Indonesia

Indeed it is... slightly more inward and a tad behind it is also some damage, chances are the fuel tanks are damaged too. If you're following the thread at airliners.net, there is a picture taken from inside the aircraft while it was landing, the damage seems to be pretty bad.

Re: Accident Airbus A340 of Turkish Airlines @ Brussels Airp

One engine out ferry flights are common practice on quads. The only thing that needs to happen is an authorization made by the OEM and the authorities. However, one engine out ferry flight on a twin have, as far as I know, never happened. Just to clarify, the plane takes off, flies and lands, all on...

I see a LH 747F listed to depart around 22.30 tonight, but no sign of it arriving today.... was that one an overnighter or just a charter?

Re: Getting that first flying job...

Thanks for your reply! First... I have made up my mind about the social life, that really isn't a problem to me. The only thing I'll be missing out on is concert photography, a hobby of mine now. But other then that, I don't really mind. Right now I'm studying Applied ICT (Toegepaste Informatica) at...

Getting that first flying job...

After SFA's Open House on saturday, I'm getting more and more interested in actually taking the road to the left hand seat (over time, of course). But I'm still wondering about one little thing: Employment. I really don't know how the world looks for a student that just graduated at SFA. How does it...

Re: Accident Airbus A340 of Turkish Airlines @ Brussels Airp

I live underneath the approach for 20 too, and I'm pretty sure I didn't see an A340 passing between 9 and 11 o' clock. I did however see one passing over Kampenhout Sas (when seen from my point of view). An aircraft passing there can be for 25L or 25R, when seen from my home. So unless the replaceme...

Re: 21/10: plane over Aarschot escorted by 2 F-16

It was a C-130, not a large passenger jet ;-) I don't know why, but over Kampenhout they were in approach for 25R, and they were well below glideslope, all three of 'em. From my point of view, the sun was almost directly behind the planes, so I couldn't tell if they were "our" planes or not. Is ther...

Sabena Flight Academy (SFA) Open house - October 23rd 2010

Anybody over here going to the SFA open house on October 23rd? There was a "contest" where you could win an hour in a Full Flight Simulator. Today I had a mail regarding the subject, declaring I won an hour in the Airbus A330 simulator. Couldn't be happier right now ( well, I could, if it were a Boe...

Re: belgian air force airbus 330 - aanvraag tot rondvlucht

There just might be one way to get a trip on the A330.... Two years ago I signed in for "Fly to your dream", an event where being a Pilot in Comopsair (Belgian Air Component) is promoted. This event took place on a day where a training flight with the A310 (escorted by F-16's) was planned. Everybody...

Noisy and 4 engines, makes me thing about a 707. Perhaps a NATO 707 then.
Those don't show up on the website, but they do occasionally visit BRU.

You can always check the Cargo arrivals and departures on the site yourself:
http://www.brusselsairport.be/brucargo/arrivals
http://www.brusselsairport.be/brucargo/departures

I don't remember a day where it wasn't correct (in terms of aircrafts actually being there, the timetable is often wrong.)

Re: Spotting at Ramstein

Do you think a 500mm lens on a full frame sensor is too much? Also, did you take a scanner there? I heard a lot of contradictory stuff about German Polizei searching cars for scanners? Which runway is mainly in use, and is there a parking opportunity close to it? And, the last thing I can think of n...
