Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Lufthansa has ordered 55 brand new airplanes for Swiss... And Swiss has had a major long haul expansion first off with the addition of 10 777s with bigger capacity, by adding flights on many routes like Chicago, Miami etc... here in Boston they doubled from 1 to 2 flights a day... thats a huge incr...

Re: Sukhoi Superjet SSJ100 news

Used SSJ100s? Already? The type is in commercial use now for 7 years with the first examples far from being up to later standards and often delivered to unstable Russian/Asian carriers that went through rough times over the years (some still existing, others not). So I wouldn't be surprised if ther...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

From Jan 16 till Feb 6, SN501, which is supposed to be a daily flight, seems to have been de-programmed every Tuesday, i.e. 4 times, + cancellation on Feb 3. Other cancellations/de-programming: Feb 21, March 2, March 7, March 21, April 1. That makes a total of 10 within 10 weeks (14%!) for a suppos...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

This numbers looks bad to me ....And this is the reality. Except the cancellations, the on time performance is not quite worse than e.g. DL on JFK (except ex-BRU which is a little better for DL) and on YYZ it's beter than AC on YUL. Of course this is a simplistic comparison, but that seems to be th...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

RoMax, do you know the T&Cs for pilots in Europe? If yes, you do know the ones at EW are borderline insulting don’t you? Why do you think EW is struggling to recruit former Air Berlin pilots whilst Ryanair and easyJet are flooded with applications? If you don’t know the T&Cs, please don’t pretend y...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Pax bound to JFK and YYZ could probably be taken care of by other airlines. No doubt about that, but it's sad to see SN becoming a virtual airline on TAtl routes. Let's not exaggerate either, the OTP is definitely not great and should be improved (nobody is denying that), but it's not like flying S...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

I'm not sugercoating it Sean, but calling it 'social dumping at its best' is just crazy. It makes perfect sense for EW to keep their own operations 'clean' by only having short/medium haul operations under their own AOC('s) and rather make use of another fully owned subsidiary of the group which is ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

and (re-)employ people on inferior belgian contracts (in comparison to their old german one). They have German SN contracts and as far as I know nobody was forced to sign them. And inferior? Well yeah, as most of them were previously contracted by an airline paying them too much and being unable to...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

I can tell you that AB has lots of crew who are eager to fly and have their mobile phones on, hoping they get a call. A daily inspection and the A340s are ready as well. If they don’t fly for SN it’s because SN didn’t call AB. A yes let's call the crew and Sabena Aerospace (or is it LHT for them?) ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Thank you for these remarks. I generally appreciate your comments like those of Romax or others. That said, and if I may, "bad luck" is a "typical" answer ( réponse type ) to a customer "lambda". I do not think that a general management can be satisfied in AG to say "Oohh...bad luck" ... there is a...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Why don’t they call Air Belgium? Two A340s ready to go with a couple of hours notice. (I know why, but I will be shot down in flames if I write it down) Who says they're ready to go in a couple of hours for SN?! Do you really think SN is cancelling (or delaying by 24h) long haul flights just becaus...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

The age of many of those A330's is showing more and more. To some extent it's normal, but it really seems to become more than normal. But it's not like the management doesn't know, in case you missed it 7 much newer, more reliable and more efficient A333's will join the fleet soon and already this s...

Re: Niki suspends operations, restarts as LaudaMotion

My guess is that EW will end up taking over all A320 leases and LM will go for B737s. MOL is in charge now. Several of these A320's are actually already in the hands of EW as a result of the AB take-over, but leased to Laudamotion 'on request' of the EU (and now wet-leased back to EW). Niki was usi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

No it's not the SN product and brand, why would it be if it's operated out of Germany (yes even in Germany SN is a very bad known brand). But why is SN so badly known in Germany? Because LH decided to monopolise the routes from BRU to its main bases FRA and MUC. The former SN (Sabena) was flying to...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

The homebase is not Brussels. How is it then a "real" SN plane? Since when is that a criteria? Because of the name (well then Air Berlin was very much anti-Air Berlin by having bases throughout Germany, PMI, etc.) or because of sentiment? ... Aircraft are leased by SN (from LHG), on the SN AOC with...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

In fact, a week early for BRU, a week late for IAD: USA/Canada moved to summer time on March 11; we'll move on March 25. These are IATA seasons, they are 'by accident' (not really but ok :p ) related to the summer/winter time difference in Europe, but the IATA seasons are used globally for scheduli...

The previous drop-off arrangement only lasted for a bit more than a year.
As it was never intended as a 'permanent' solution. Currently they are working on the next version of the 'temporary' solution until the full zone is completely redeveloped over the coming years.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Won't it be used for EW at first? One of the 2 'early arrivals' (don't remember if it's this one or the other) will indeed temporarily go to EW for about 10 months after which it returns to SN. The other one will be used by SN during the summer. Both will operate with a slightly adapted Cathay inte...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Btw, it might be interesting for some to look at the history of Eurowings and Germanwings in Germany (which after all is the home market on which it's all based). Eurowings already exists since the early 1990's as a regional airline operating under the Eurowings name (mainly regional aircraft like ...
