Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

and will be arriving shortly, SNM is in EW colors tho... so probably they’ll repaint it into SN as it would be to soon to have a EW branded plane in BRU ... Probably, unless they'll like to add some fuel on the fire... Maybe one of them will have the Smurfs theme? When was that going to be unveiled?

Re: VLM Airlines news 2018

Nothing published yet in the "Belgian State Gazette" at this point, last publication was last month with change of management. Seems that the Brussels operations is called VLM Airlines NV (name change, ex-TCAB NV) and SHS Antwerp Aviation NV has registered the trade name VLM Regional (though the com...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

It's the same administration, the BCAA, that delivers the registrations and the AOCs. One can hope that their people speak to each other. The problem is, even though it's the same administration, there is no legal groundwork available to refuse one a registration. While the BCAA can withhold an AOC...

Or perhaps it indicates they're in a hurry to get operations going, considering outward show secondary?
Seems that approximately 2 years of time isn't enough to get an airplane painted

Anyway, I'm glad they didn't paint it due to the incorrect order of colours

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

If a first plane arrives, I guess it will bring certification if they need one ;) They can have planes without an AOC. You don't need an AOC to lease/own/rent a plane, you need an AOC for commercial operations with the aircrafts. If they have licensed pilots they can even take them out for a spin a...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

A nice (and interesting) interview with Etienne Davignon in "De Standaard" (Dutch): http://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20180209_03349557 Regarding the brand is one particular sentence interesting: "Spreken we over vijf jaar nog over Brussels Airlines? ‘In Afrika zijn wij niet Brussels Airlines. Daar noe...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Does Star Alliance really need to ask any company to be its member? I'm afraid it works different, the company has to do its best to be able to become a member and as Eurowings is not a member of this alliance it is obvious they will do everything to keep SN as a member of Star Alliance. That way t...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

But what does that mean? Could still mean it is the HQ of a company flying out of Dusseldorf Well, currently EW doesn't fly long haul, they subcontract it to other companies who fly on behalf of EW. This will change in the future by letting SN operate all long haul flights for EW instead, this way ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

At VRT De Redactie: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2018/02/07/-brussels-airlines-zal--belgian-touch--behouden-/ - Brussels Airlines will perform the longhaul flighs of EW, rapid expansion of DUS - Less night stops (for which a compensation will be found) - No "Germanisation" of Brussels Airlines, Brus...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

So, basically it means that Brussels Airlines will get eventually a bunch of long haul planes on the Belgian register and the Belgian AOC but all painted in the EW colours. This way they can eliminate all other external leases and use the EW AOC for a short haul fleet. But I still haven't read anyth...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

What about Eurowings and CARGO ? at first sight I didn't find any trace of Cargo-operations on the Eurowings website... Are all the EW-flights open for carrying cargo ? And is the belly space marketed by LH maybe? If I remember well SN is getting an important part of its revenue from Freight,especi...

Re: B737 MAX vv. A321neoLR

You can't compare both, the 737-7MAX is only capable of transporting about 138 pax (on average) while the A321LR can transport about 206 and even fly further. (average 2 class seating). The only plane that can do it (or could be useful) is the A321LR. Will they use it? I doubt it unless UA buys them...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

On the other hand, the whole thing is quite weird. It's like they adopted Gustin's vision for the future but that they went ahead with the terminations to save face. The fact that both "support" the transition suggests that they probably got a huge bonus to go away without making to much fuss. Could...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

It’s called shushing the unions ;) Quite possible indeed :-) But even if it's a stay of execution (let's say for another year or maybe 2), then it gives Brussels Airlines the time to prove that they can operate profitably and can continue to grow. And who knows, maybe Spohr will vanish into thin ai...
