BRU: B787 versus A350

Hi all, Long time ago, BRU long haul was mainly A330 or B767 (and also B777). With the new types coming in (of course A330 will stay for a long time because of SN) we see more and more B787 and A350 ... B787: Tokyo ANA B787-800 Addis Ababa ET B787-800 Shanghai HU B787-900 (?) A350: Doha QR A350-900 ...

Re: BRU - Long haul & intercontinental in the medium-long term

Hi all, I read the full story; interesting. And amazingly ambitious ... Especially the statement that some new destinations to Asia are envisaged in the "short term". Don't know what that means, but could be already 2018/2019 (?) Another thing that strikes me is that this does not take into account ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures

I have a small related question regarding the Mumbai flights. In B-Inspiration - in my opinion one of the best inflight magazines in the air - I see a map with the destinations of SN and its codeshare destinations. What surprises me is that they codeshare on the route Mumbai-Ahmedabad. So not to Che...

Re: BRU airport monthly traffic figures in 2017

In fact they would need 338.212 extra pax over the last two months or 169.106 per month. Since the growth was 175.060 in October, it will be tight, but it is not impossible.

Re: BRU airport monthly traffic figures in 2017

Yes indeed, I assume that November and December will be good Months: - Continuous growth by SN (excluding the TC growth) including e.g. 10th long haul aircraft in the winter for the first time - Second daily Dubai flight - The Shanghai flights (3x/w) - The extra flights to Kigali (3x/w) - Iran fligh...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Regarding the A319/A320 I think they really need the additional aircraft since they take over many (all) summer destinations of TC. So in summer that is more than the 2 additional planes + the organic (own) growth ... I would rather say they need some special 'arrangements' with other companies to f...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

A related question: do they need to perform 'maintenance' or other things prior to return the 'old' birds to the lessor?

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Please always read carefull what is written ;) I my original post (which came from Airliners.net) it was not said that the first 'new' A330 would enter in service early 2018, but that they would arrive in BRU in January, March 2018 .... In any case they would need new interiors, etc. So entrance int...

Re: BRU - Long haul & intercontinental in the medium-long term

Besides the mentioned destinations earlier in this tpic it seems that VLM and/or Air Belgium will try fishing in the big Chinese pool with some 'secondary' cities. For VLM this could be: Shenzen, Chengdu, Xian en Tianjin. They are of course very big cities in their own right :D For example Tianjin i...

Re: Air Belgium: a rebirth?

Longer runway in CRL is for after 2020. Wait and see . Works will start mid-2018, according to the Walloon 2018 budget. Are 2 years needed to lengthen a runway? In China: 2 months In Belgium : between two and five years.... Maybe, but delivery of the AOC might just be delayed because there is no cl...

Re: BRU infrastructure: future

Hi all, I am traveling quite a lot, not so often as some of you though :D ), but still between 50 and 80 flights a year, almost all of them starting and arriving in BRU. I do not recognise all the 'problems' described here: 1) long times before arriving in the terminal - do not recognise this, 2) co...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2017

Regarding starting other destinations to/from the US for SN (from BRU): I am sure this will happen in due time. But it is NOT SN that decides on this (rightfully so). You need to do management and take decisions from the LG Group perspective (and SN and BRU are part of their strategy). Something els...

Re: Air Berlin files for insolvency as Etihad pulls funding plug

Again, a similar strange rumour ... "One of the rumours I recently heard is that long haul Eurowings will be started/developed on the AOC of Brussels Airlines, with German crew and bases (ex-AB?). This would eventually supersede the co-operation with SunExpress, who currently flies Eurowings Long Ha...

Re: Brussels Airlines' monthly traffic figures

There has not yet been a press release on the figures, but it is already (hidden ;) ) on their website. See http://brusselsairport.cmail20.com/t/ViewEmail/d/4631F72589062351/20D26CE93B4D3A266A4D01E12DB8921D It seems BRU had 2.396.571 pax in 09/2017, a growth of 6,1% (or +137.692 pax). Market share S...
