Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Anyone heard about the social plans at SN ? It seems that was presented to the unions the past few days is really looking like a social plan, with lay-offs... The "volunteers" concept is a very special approach... to say the least from what I've read. The ultimate goal being: to get enough...

https://i.ibb.co/yR8VpMq/Capture.jpg I'm not too sure the "Safrans" passengers will appreciate their HiFly's experience. :? The new A339 would have been more suited, but it currently flies for Brunei between Bandar SB and Dubai. More about the "Tour" here: https://www.safransdum...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Some updates I could grab from a relative in the wake of last week's O.R / C.E : - TC still has a huge debt towards SN, of a few millions of €. Contrary to what was previously said, SN was paid four to five weeks after the flights, like hotels with the stays (up to three months in that case) - 10% o...

Re: Thomas Cook ceases trading; UK CAA launches giant programme to fly its customers home

The two rotations that are cancelled today, are charter flights exclusive for Thomas Cook. That way, Brussels Airlines puts all the responsability with THCB (as the B2B contract states). Indeed, those destinations aren't even on the destinations-map of SN. So I assume these are indeed scheduled cha...

Re: Thomas Cook ceases trading; UK CAA launches giant programme to fly its customers home

SN hasn't been paid by TCB for a while now it seems... I think we are still yet to discover some remarkable things in the next few days... Those who were saying that SN would be barely financially affected :!: :?: Does SN fear to have aircrafts impounded in Tunisia even if it's clearly two di...

Consequences of the looming Thomas Cook bankruptcy on Brussels Airlines

I'm rather astonished to see the little reactions regarding Thomas Cook / Neckermann future financial woes... and possible bankruptcy. This will for sure greatly impact SN's financials and its operations. They have adapted their A32F fleet capacity in accordance to the Thomas Cook take-over. If Thom...

Re: [Discussion] no direct flights anymore between Brussels and Miami

Mia was for many years in the pipeline of AA with their B757. They requested many slots for it but never used it. Orlando was a much better destination as many Flemish people bought a villa there after the financial crisis in 2008. Tui was offering those flights and for the cruises. But those desti...

Re: Brussels Airport (BRU) infrastructure: future

Ok, let me explain. As you probably knows, BAC bought the Sheraton in front of the airport some time ago. Real Estate is a big part of the airports portfolio. Two major reasons for this: the hotel has most of the time full capacity, sold out and second, when you are owner of it, you can do with it ...

OO-SFG seems to come back to BRU today ... It is already planned to fly to Accra today but that seems a bit optimistic to me ... See: https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/oo-sfg Which bird will be next to get the new interior? Cheers Danny And guess what... DELAYED. The great summer punctual...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

For me the most catastrophic fact for this summer 2019, is not the dispatch reliability (which is at the average level of the other years, even slightly improving) but the horrific PUNCTUALITY figures. I'm not sure that operationally speaking, mixing both the main line operations and the charter ops...

Next Monday an extraordinary meeting at Brussels Airlines' works council is being held as "additional measures are needed in the context of the financial turnaround". Background: Eurowings made a loss of €257M in 1Q 2019 I chatted yesterday with one of the top representatives of the SN pi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2019

Question :?: : When will the new EW/SN entity leave Star Alliance ? We all know Eurowings is totally separated from Star... I have heard in 2022 at the latest, but how will they proceed if the SN brands survive for the long-haul ? That must be a headache. :| I tend to say that North Atlantic ...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Indeed do not underestimate the cargo revenue. It's very valuable for SN.

The newer A330 with increased max-weight helps a lot for this purpose, they don't have to make choices anymore or limit the cargo capacity.

The A321LR is a pure niche airplane. Well suited for Aer Lingus for instance.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Interesting (though nothing really new here...) about the SN European fleet transitioning into EW brand and colours. Of course there is still plenty of uncertainty as far as long haul activities are concerned.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Amazing stuff going on here: "SN has become EW". We call it "massahysterie". Just one proof of the contrary: the Bruegel aircraft (OO-SNE). That A320 can't go to the paint shop in Malta or Hamburg next week to get Eurowings colours. It's part of a five year commercial contract, ...
