The El-AL engines that fell off were not due to bad maintenance. It is true that the engines were not well fixed to the wings. But that is not the main cause of engines 3 and 4 falling at the same time! Actually the plane stalled because of the overweight (caused as Ultrasonic said by overfuelling, ...

On the registration of the ATC, we can hear a plane called for a go-around and further planes called to land on runway 4L instead of 31L.

WELL EARTHMAN, THIS TIME I CAN CONTRADICT YOU AS THE ENGINES WERE TEARED OFF BY A STALL DUE TO AN OVERLOAD, AND THAT THE BAD MAINTENANCE WAS NOT THE MAIN REASON OF IT. THE CAPTAIN ALSO DECIDED TO TAKE-OFF WITH FULL TANKS BECAUSE OF HIGH GAS PRICES IN ISRAEL. ATC COMMUNICATIONS PROUVE THIS FACT AS TH...

well, i thought air traffic had nothing to do with sea traffic, but apparently modern jets land on fisher boats?the sea is great enough and leaves enough place for maritime traffic; many people seem to be fixed on the only airport of brussels, but as the city is expanding itself to the surroundings,...

Did you read my comment over to the end? Then you shoul understand that the idea is to gain on territory over the sea, as Japanee did very well. Winds are very low over the Northern Sea, and you can build as great as you wish to. There would not be any problem for the A380 to come over :-) That woul...

It does pain to say so but BRU airport is not interesting anymore, althoug it sure does give thousands of people a job. It is true that we have 6 airports in Belgium. But their position is inadequate, their capacity way too low, for these reasons their taxes way too high, the connetions too bad, the...

Yes they do as the Belgian and French authorities decided not to allow this line, in order to develop train traffic. This is official!
What I mean is not to reduce taxes, but bagage handling charges! Read well before commenting.

KLM has a good name you say? Well, I m sorry but on long-haul flights to Tokyo Narita, I did not see anything of that at all. It was like flying in a ventilated box. The noise of the b747 engines was so loud I could not speak to the person next to me without having to shout. Food was ugly and looked...

But in a way VC-10 is right: A ticket to Paris with the Thalys high-speed train costs at least 60 euros one-way. You can take Eurolines busses paying 30 euros, but sitting uncomfortably in your chair for half a day before getting there. The bus stop in Paris isn t convenient at all as the connection...

Earthman, what is your source of information? You might be right, or you might not. I confirm, you are right about the first part of the happening you developed, but not that sure about the second part where you state that the back of the plane was spared from the explosion. My sources are the books ...

About the radar systems quoted in one of the previous replies: Airliners are not allowed to carry radar-systems that are able to locate other aircraft in their vicinity to avoid these to be used for bad purposes by hijackers or terrorists. Military aircraft do carry such systems, which are also very...

Hi, more about the Tenerife incident: the weather was very foggy. Controllers could not see any of the aircraft taxiing, nor the KLM nor the Pan-AM. This is also the reason why KLM B747 could not see Pan-Am 747 taxiing on the runway but also the explanation to the fact that the Pan-Am 747 missed its...
