ANA has said they were shifting away from A380/748i and toward the 77W. I assume they might be open for the A350, but I don't see their focus on large airplanes anymore.

We played Boeing and Airbus of each other and got an incredible deal. Boeing wanted US Airways really bad given how many older Boeing aircraft were going to be replaced. Airbus sure as heck didn't want to lose what might be the only widebody order they will get from an American airline. US had both ...

I'm not sure at this point. I doubt we'll drop service beyond some of the seasonal travel and see where that happens. Those A332s can't come quick enough (not that BRU would see them, but they'd open up more aircraft).

The airframes are tired and need work.

Welcome back Cagey - I was beginning to think that you'd fallen off the edge of the earth! With the weather in PHL and the problems with our 767/757s across the atlantic, I've been very busy. I think we'll be seeing US scale back our European service soon to let the company take a breath. Most of t...

US Airways Pittsburgh Steelers A319

Its been a very tough summer here in PHL working for US Airways and I haven't felt too much like posting since I'm sure you are all aware of the meltdown of our International service, but at least there is some good news. Just in time for the NFL regular season, the Pittsburgh Steelers Logo Plane ha...

I'm sure their service is as good as US Airways and Star Alliance hasn't kicked us out yet. ;)

A320 and A321 both would have trouble making it much further than Ireland from the eastern USA. The A319 can make it to most of "atlantic europe", but that isn't that wonderful.

I think Boeing did everything they could to keep the 757 program going. After 9/11 there was almost no orders for the aircraft anymore. I'm sure the 752 would have been a great sales tool over the last couple years, but it was getting old. Maybe some sort of 757-800ER or something could have been do...

It's just a lot harder to find some place to walk around and stretch your legs on a 757 than on a widebody. If you're stuck in a plane for 8 hours, you do want to be able to get up and walk around a bit. I suppose, but these transatlantic flights are about as long as transcon so it really isn't an ...

Also, US Air has reported that the A321 is a short on range for US transcontinental trips. We ordered the A321-200 which is "supposed" to have better range (transcon). Still I don't think it will be going to europe. Airlines are mostly using the B757s on transatlantic routes where demand ...

My guess is FedEx will eventually become the largest operator as they replace their MD-10/11s with the 777.

Who is the largest right now? I assume SQ and maybe UL?

Well both Boeing and Airbus are able to say that their narrowbody jet is the best selling in history.

Why anyone would argue that either isn't is beyond me.

Of course one might read all this as GE & PW wanting to use the GP7000 and trying to force the EU to let them.
