Re: Easyjet to launch flights between London and Luxembourg

That's a big news for Luxembourg ! It's the first real low cost to reach Findel Airport. (Well except Iceland Express that was short lived) However 4 times a week is a weak schedule. There is a consequent traffic between London and Luxembourg as UK managers moves regularly to Luxembourg (to held boa...

Re: EINDHOVEN: SolidAir to try again...

Sorry if i'm fare away from the subject but the name recall me a story happened 10 years ago in Luxembourg. Solid'air or Solidair was an airline that never toke off (but investors money did...). Project was a direct flight to New York with a leased A310-300 from Lufthansa. The legal case was only so...

And not yet Luxembourg ? With Dexia Bil, KBL and Cargolux now into Quatari hands at least a weekly shuttle would make sence.

Re: LH retiring aircraft... opportunities for SN?

Brussels - Papeete ? Guess not so many rich people nowadays to fill these planes haha Hmm... last time I checked Papette was in the Pacific. St Denis de la Réunion was maybe the suggested destination but can this work with so many flights from Paris already ? Thalys make CDG the second airport from...

Re: Bad year 2011 for SN

Financial Statements analysis is not an easy job. Computing figures is one thing. Understanding the company's activity is another. If you do not have a clue understanding of the company's activity and of it's industry practices FS analysis is like statistics and bikini. Do you know this famous quote...

Re: New 737's for SN?

Actually the fact that Brussels Airlines is in the list of companies is due to the purchase of 2 737-300 and 2 737-400 by Virgin Express/EBA in 1996 and 1997. http://active.boeing.com/commercial/orders/index.cfm?content=displaystandardreport.cfm&pageid=m25062&RequestTimeout=100000 If you loo...

Re: Global Credit Crunch - Possible Effects

Well. Sale and lease back is not a new way to sell aircraft but we will maybe see more leasing as leasing is more comfortable (stable, securer, and safer) for banks than loans financings as they are often the shareholder of the leasing company or in very-close partnership.

Re: Global Credit Crunch - Possible Effects

First thing to say: Loans is the way banks makes money. They get money from deposits and makes loans to borrowers. They make a profit on the interest rate. So loans will still be allowed to companies or individuals. Currently they have big issues with some high risk debts (sub primes) that the borro...

The big difference between Singapore Airlines and Brussels airlines is that SG did not started on the ruins of a former company a few years ago but has more that 60 years of history. It is not comparing a Ferrari and a Lada... It's comparing apples and bananas. But I'm an accountant, not a pilot so ...

Cargo traffic would not been strange as lux is a big cargo hub with Cargolux. I often see Cargolux or Air Atlanta other the railway station when I wait my train to come back to Belgium. It would be nice to see the Skycargo 747!

Emirate to LUX?

I was a little astonished when I saw in a luxembourg website today that Emirate could use Luxembourg-Findel as a step for Dubai-Toronto and Dubai-Houston flights. http://www.lesfrontaliers.lu/index.php?p=edito&edito_id=2574 This is not a aviation website but a cross-border workers community. The...
