Re: Blackburn Monoplane (Britains oldest airworthy aeroplane

And that very old Avro they have, a Triplane, is it a replica too? I'm afraid so. But their Bleriot (1909, Oldest flying aircraft), Deperdussin (1910) and Blackburn (1910) are the real deal. And so are a lot of others. Check their website to see which are real and which ones are replicas. http://ww...

Re: Blackburn Monoplane (Britains oldest airworthy aeroplane

Actually the Britol Boxkite is one of the three replicas specially made for the film 'Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines'. A film I definitely recommend. To quote the Boxlite Wikipedia page: After filming, one was sent to the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery, a second to the Shuttlewo...

Re: New charter airlines based in BRU

besides as said here .. corendon flies only to Turkish destinations... so no influence at all .... Actually Corendon Airlines started a Dutch branch specifically so they could operate flights from Europe to other destinations outside of Turkey (e.g. Macedonia, Spain, Gambia). With a Turkish AOC thi...

Re: BrusselsAirlines - the TURBOPROPS will come!

I've been a long time reader here at luchtzak. And I'm getting really tired of these fights. I don't care if it's SN vs FR or A319 vs RJ100. A decent discussions about the A319 vs RJ100 could be interesting, if it focused on performance, operating cost, training cost, maintenance cost, fuel cost,......

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet

According to airfleets.net, OO-DJQ is stored as G-CHDO. Why hasn't the registration been changed on the plane? This happens a lot with stored aircraft. Since they are not flying, what's the point? When the aircraft are sold or leased to another operator, a new registration will have to be applied a...

Re: VIDEO: Brazilian heli shakes itself apart after landing.

Looks like a ground resonance problem. A famous example of a ground resonance test with a Chinook helicopter can be found on youtube. This is also the reason that helicopter blades have to be balanced out.

Re: MIG-21 in Chinese Google Earth grid?

Definitely not MIG-21s. If you look at the wing sweep, it looks more like a J-5 or J-6. These are the Chinese versions of the MIG-17 and MIG-19 respectively. Since the J-6 has been built in far higher numbers, I would guess they are J-6s. That is at least true for the top right and the left aircraft...

Which five carriers chartered aircraft to Air France during the strike? And what type of aircraft did they operate?

Re: BRU winter 2011/2012: latest news, routes, airlines

BMI have axed one of their flights between LBA and BRU - BD1613/4 leaving just the early morning flight and early evening flights from LBA, neither of which operate on a Saturday and only one of which operates on a Sunday. As a passenger affected by this it is damned inconvenient, especially when t...

Re: Turkey bombards Kurdish after attack

I doubt this is an F-4, look at the shape of the wing. The trailing edge is straight on the picture but angled on the F-4. This is an Sukhoi Su-25. Probably just a stock photo. I think I also recognize the paintwork as a light blue underside, and camouflaged upper side, a fairly normal Su-25 colour-...

Re: Replacement of SN's Avro RJ and B737 fleet

I'm wondering about the two other A319's that will join the fleet. There were talks (rumours) about an ex-Sabena one and also an A319 from Hamburg Intl. came up. Could anyone tell me why SN is that interested in those ex-Sabena aircraft. 5 out of 8 A319's and 3 out of 5 A330-300's are ex-Sabena. Is...

While reading the article I remembered seeing a video from the Republic of China Air Force (=Taiwan). After a while I found it back. It's made by local spotters, and features a S-70, F-16's, Mirage 2000's and Ching-kuo's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNk-ljy-diA While searching for it, I found a m...

Virgin Atlantic 747-400's are actually pretty normal visitors at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. They visit AMS to receive maintenance at KLM E&M (Engineering & Maintenance). Hope this helps.

was this not the A310 that had continuous technical problems? And was it not the airplane with some specific features, also different engines, which would make it very unattractive to send to Dresden for a cargo make over ? As far as I remember, there is a spare part avaiability problem with this s...
