Re: Belgocontrol ATCO vacancies

You work 25 days a month when there are not enough controllers... That's why they recruit now ;) Otherwise, the basis is 35 hours per week (7 hours/day). If you work more than that, you accumulate overtime hours ("CP hours") and you can have more days off later (much later)... You can work...

Re: 27/05/2015 Major power failure at Belgocontrol

The telephones failed as well. And do you think a handheld device would have enough power to reach an aircraft 60 NM away ?
There is a lot of redundant equipment at Steenokkerzeel, even backup radios, they just all failed.

It's an enlargement of the apron on both sides. The western part will open in December.

Re: 2010 Charleroi Airport (CRL) latest news

There are 12 stands plus 7 remote positions (since several weeks now). However you cannot load or unload passengers on those remote positions. There are 12 Ryanair aircraft based, plus 2 Jetair. Well I think a 13th Ryanair aircraft has been based recently (but I'm not sure) and I have been told they...

No. Or rather, not yet. ;)
For the location of the terminal, well they took the available space within the airport limits.

Re: CHARLEROI's runway extension approved

Nowadays some flights, when the wind is not strong enough to use runway 25, ask for runway 07 for their departures (less obstacles in this direction). So it's not very efficient for runway capacity (and also safety) to have departures from runway 07 and arrivals on runway 25 ! Moreover, a runway ext...

EHAM/AMS had a pretty good weather yesterday morning (7 km VIS) but EBLG/LGG was very foggy (about 150 m RVR and ceiling 0 ft).
Even in CATIII operations you have to see something.

CRL was not ILS CAT I at that time. The glidepath of the ILS is out of service due to the works north of the runway so it is localizer only approach. So the weather minimas are higher and they need 1200 m visibility and 460 ft ceiling minimum. That's why we got a lot of diversions and cancellations ...
