Re: TUI Airline in 2024
Is this to replace the 787 that went to Tui NL for the summer periode? The 787 you're talking about is gone for good to TUI NL. Not only for the summer season. TUI BE only has OO-JDL left in its fleet. TUI BE & NL work closely together, so they share their planes & yes in the end that 777 i...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
You liek it or not - the SN cost will be always compared to those Ryanair and Wizz and Transavia. This is your market reality, reagardless of what you are dreaming of. Ok so basically… you’re saying pilots should work more and earn less than at major LCC’s because the cost structure of SN is too hi...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Not only passengers are frustrated, but travel agencies are now reluctant to book customers on Brussels Airlines, especially if they have a connection with Lufthansa (StrikeHansa) at Munich or Frankfurt. It's not only Brussels Airlines, but the whole Lufthansa Group that is affected. I bet they boo...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
What I don't understand with pilots is that it's the top of the social basket; they can find a job wherever they want in any other company, why go on strike? Yeah well, there is already a significant exodus to other airlines. But for sure, it’s also very easy to quit everything you have in Belgium,...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
.... and as expected the strike will go ahead. I think I'll book my summer trip to Spain with Iberia or Vueling. I want peace of mind without the constant threat of strikes with SN. (it's really disastrous for their image but they don't seem to care, so be it) What makes you think Iberia, Vueling, ...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Not 100% related to 2024, but Spohr revealed some very interesting insight into SN's future : LUFTHANSA IS PLANNING A NEW MAJOR PROJECT WITH UNITED Lufthansa is involving Brussels Airlines in a new cooperation with United Airlines: Teams in Frankfurt, Chicago and Brussels are working on joint conne...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
So what do you suggest then?
What's your super bright idea to compete against those (ultra) low cost carriers operating from much cheaper countries than Belgium?

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Why doesn't SN get a similar treatment as LH? What treatment are you talking about? LH is there to make money, it's all about business, not about treatments. They're smart enough to know what's good or bad for SN. Lumumba with his turbuprops, JOVAN2 with his network to all over Asia & the US, y...

Re: ASL Airlines Belgium & ASL Aviation Holdings news 2024
They changed a lot, like in... renewing its fleet? Like in ... re-registering all aircraft from OO- to OE- (except the old 737-400 OO-TNN and OO-TNP, the bare minimum to keep "Belgium" in their name). That is nothing new and has absolutely no relation at all with shareholders or whatsoever.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Somehow and anyway in some time the long haul fleet has to be replaced. On a certain moment there will be no A330 anymore to be transferred within the group. The same for the A319 and A320 who starts to be old. But still there is a lot available within the group. But like I wrote months ago, why SN...

Re: Belgian Air Force news
This time, the PM flew to Israel with a private Lithuanian B737  Are we a third-world country? About time for Belgium to buy a decent government (medium-long range) aircraft! All countries have them... That KlasJet B737 is a regular visitor in Melsbroek... What a shame, indeed. On top of hiri...

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I understand but is it not high time to change the very pessimistic Belgian mindset? We can see here a lot of complaining, but when the CEO finally is willing to fight for new planes bcs the company is doing better, it's again not good. Decide what you want. Still flying second hand or having final...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
After learning this news, Aviation24.be had a conversation with a Brussels Airlines spokesperson: in the last 6 months, 20 pilots left the company. In the same period, 40 new pilots were hired and some are to be accepted in the near future. 20 in six months is quite a number. How many in the past 2...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
Can/do they offer training bonds? TUI had to let the bond go for new contracts, new joiners wouldn't even come if they had a bond. They all come for a free type rating and go away as soon as they find anything else. SN offers fixed contracts to F/O's so they have less troubles finding new F/O's. Ho...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2024
It's how the market works: these days companies don't have to choose much, it's a different story then 25 years ago. It''s a real crisis at this moment. Belgian pilots, mostly copilots, are leaving for other skies (major airlines, in the Middle East,...). Hiring new guys is difficult. Especially at...
