Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2023

It seems like it will be 18-20h. Management is pushing back hard, that's why there are no notams yet. I expect the strike will still happen though.
Brussels tower seems to be sure, other skeyes units, especially at CANAC might or might not join.

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

A meeting for CANAC atco's had been planned for 10h today. The initial email called of the COO for everyone to be there so they could explain the 'agreement'. However, 10h is a busy time to work, so a lot of people wouldn't be able to attend anyway. And even for those in break, attending isn't obvio...

Re: Social actions at air traffic control service skeyes (Belgium) - possible air traffic disruptions

- You compare your salaries with pilots but from what you answered don’t want their conditions. Yours are better (rostering flexibility - family life as you said): that is worth a lot! Maybe worth anything for some people to be able to be at home almost when they want. And if you don’t get what you...

Re: Air traffic control service skeyes to strike in the evenings and nights of 12 & 13 March

Management is now in panic: of course! The towers are almost fully staffed (as I already mentioned in a previous post) but Canac remains a problem. So they came up with the solution to take people straight from initial training to radar: this is how it works in all other countries! Look at Maastric...

Re: Air traffic control service skeyes to strike in the evenings and nights of 12 & 13 March

We do have a certain strategy regarding the demands we have, so I'm not going to go in detail about it, but things would go a long way if management would just follow the law and the company internal rules. Obvious pay is quite good, not as good as some people on this forum or elsewhere write though...

Re: Air traffic control service skeyes to strike in the evenings and nights of 12 & 13 March

Flemish Tower atco here. I feel there is a lot of negativity here, and I'm bracing myself; but I'm willing to take a shot at defending our viewpoint. There really is a lack of staffing at Belgocontrol and the reason for this is mismanagement. The current situation arose when 10 years ago or so, the ...
