COVID impact on aviation.

Caught by surprise, international and European travel has been suppressed by the “angst” / fear of a state of pandemic moved by the power of toilet paper and a deep troubled racial problem, where everyone seems to care less about social distancing. Enough of this some may say, but airlines are on th...

Re: Where does the thrust of a rocket engine actually acts?

This is indeed a very good question and I will try to answer it as logical as possible. As you probably already know, in straight and level flight, Thrust equals Drag as Weight equals lift. The resulting forces act on the centre of pressure of the wing. Now, looking directly into the Turbine engine,...

Re: Lufthansa is trying to sue passengers for skiplaggingee

Maybe I did not used the best analogy :) Let’s put it this way - even if I do agree with everyone and would probably try the same to save an extra buck! I buy a five footer baguette at subw@y and you only want to have a small one that costs 4 euros. However if you take the 5 footer Baguette you only...

Re: DHL flights affected by daylight saving time?

Hi, Daylight saving time from the USA is mostly a bother for Passenger carriers, specially on airport with Noise abatement procedures affecting early flights. I dont believe DHL will change their operation due to this but their ground time will definately be altered until the time change in Europe i...

Re: Lufthansa is trying to sue passengers for skiplagging

Morning Everyone, I have to admit that this was something I was expecting to happen for years! The simple view of my flight is paid and its done.. is not really valid. Airlines like BA, TAP, KLM, LH and many more, sell tickets with PNRs referring to the entire segments. I recall back in my DUSSELDOR...

Re: Magnetic North Wander Jan 2019

Sure Jan!! They define and standardise the format of all Aeronautical information publications. The responsibility to communicate this to all Airmen, Operators, handling agents and so on lays on the Aviation Authority of the country in cause. CAA in the UK could try to do that but they would be devi...

Re: Magnetic North Wander Jan 2019

Something tells me that this message might well be lost on the vast majority of contributors here. There are not many aviators here, and of those few not many will fly to such "exotic" (haha) areas. Myself a modest private pilot, I would be proud to get North of 60 degrees, or South of 30...

Magnetic North Wander Jan 2019

Hi everyone, It has come to my attention and maybe to some Meteorology and Geo Freaks, that we are currently experience a larger than normal Magnetic North wander. Between 1900eds and the 80s this movement has been limited to 10-15 Miles a year but its currently pacing up and currently shifting at 5...

Stikes in DUS and COLOGNE / SECURITY IS AGAIN ON STRIKE

Happy New Year to everyone! Today we have the 10th of January and I am counting already with 3 Strikes from VERDI affecting BERLIN AIRPORT, DUSSELDORF and COLOGNE. Obviously I am not counting on the Money transport companies that also went on strike. If we analyse this very closely, from 10 Working ...

Re: Beijing Capital plan to resume Portugal service

Hi Globerotter, the current capacity in LIS/ LPPT is pretty much at the upmost limit. today ANA is signing the financing agreement for the new LISBON / MONTIJO Airport with a commitment to have the airport done by 2022. Lets hope they dont take as long as BERLIN AIRPORT ;) I think new routes for lis...

Re: Go Pro 7 and selfie stick allowed to take on board ?

For my next trip I would like to bring my Go Pro 7 with selfie stick, is it allowed to take the selfie stick on board ? I don't want to loose my new toys ;-) Hi Bud, on the times that go, I strongly believe that nobody will make an issue out of a selfie stick when/ at your security check. Personall...

VERDI IS BACK @ DUS International ..

Hello all! So here we are, once again and all together stumbled by the lack of originality from our “Less able” Verdians.. Verdinans.. Or whatever they are called. VERDI has decided to drop down @ DUS international Airport to make some more damage to our estimated Airlines. Lets complain because Fli...

Re: 25-26/10/2018 Aviapartner strike at Brussels Airport

What I have been wondering many times: aren't these handlers under some kind of Service Level Agreement with the airport? Something along the lines of "at least 95% of operations must be with less than xx minutes delay" or so, and a penalty if the condition is not met? Sure they have such...

Re: 25-26/10/2018 Aviapartner strike at Brussels Airport

Avia Partner is no small company! They work and operate on mostly every single airport in Central Europe. I worked with some of their teams back in Dusseldorf. Some of them really cool and trying to get problems sorted. Other on the other hand... some could no follow the single rule of cleaning toil...

They should have everything to lose! This is exactly why companies and airlines are turning into crap...
